Valerie Holcomb
Modern high-performance demands often leave the nervous system stuck in state of chronic stress, anxiety, or functional burnout. I specialize in somatic and polyvagal-informed therapy designed for executives, founders, and driven professionals who need more than traditional talk therapy.
I have provided therapy for almost 20 years and have been in the mental health field for over 25 years in a multitude of settings - schools, prisons, outpatient and inpatient facilities.
With over 20 years of clinical expertise, my approach integrates body-centered techniques to help you decode physiological stress signals, restore autonomic balance, and process underlying trauma. Together, we move beyond basic coping mechanisms to build sustainable, long-term resilience and grounded clarity.
First session
Our initial consultation is a targeted mapping of your goals and current nervous system patterns. We will review what brings you to care, identify where chronic stress or trauma shows up in your day-to-day life, and establish practical, body-centered goals. I prioritize a structured, collaborative space where you gain actionable physiological insight from day one.
Strengths
I bring over 20 years of advanced clinical expertise with a focus on somatic and polyvagal-informed methodologies. Rather than relying solely on traditional top-down talk therapy, I help clients integrate the mind-body connection to resolve chronic stress, nervous system dysregulation, and high-functioning burnout. My approach offers deep clinical precision combined with practical, action-oriented strategies—giving driven professionals the concrete physiological tools needed to build sustained resilience, autonomic regulation, and lasting clarity.
Ideal clients
My ideal clients are driven professionals, executives, and leaders who feel stuck in cycles of chronic stress, high-functioning burnout, or unresolved trauma. They are often highly motivated and successful on the outside, yet experience persistent anxiety, physiological tension, or difficulty fully unplugging from work. They are seeking more than traditional talk therapy—they want deeply skilled, somatic and polyvagal-informed care to regulate their nervous system, build true resilience, and regain grounded clarity in their personal and professional lives.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT allows us to identify and restructure the unconscious thought patterns and cognitive distortions driving chronic stress or executive anxiety. In our sessions, we translate these insights into concrete, real-world tools—shifting how you process daily pressure, evaluate risk, and regulate responses under stress.
Cognitive Processing (CPT)
CPT provides a structured, evidence-based protocol for processing traumatic events and lingering stress injuries without requiring you to repeatedly re-live the trauma narrative. We focus directly on shifting stuck beliefs regarding safety, control, and trust, helping your brain and body fully integrate past experiences.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
Mindfulness serves as the active bridge connecting cognitive insights with bodily awareness. I use tailored mindfulness practices to help you cultivate present-moment attention, identify subtle physical indicators of stress early, and interrupt automatic reactivity before it leads to burnout.
Polyvagal Therapy
Polyvagal therapy maps how your autonomic nervous system responds to stress, workload, and perceived pressure. Instead of fighting your body's stress responses, we work directly with your nervous system to move you out of fight-or-flight states, restoring balance, calm, and grounded decision-making.
Somatic
Somatic therapy addresses how traumatic stress, anxiety, and high-performance pressure become physically stored within the body's tissues and nervous system. Rather than working solely top-down through conversation, we track physiological signals—such as chronic tension, breath restriction, and autonomic shifts—to safely release stored strain, reset your baseline, and rebuild bodily resilience.
