Amaryllis (Amy) Thomas
As a 23 year professional counselor in Michigan I have been happy to work with clients through clinical diagnosis, stress, anxiety, depression, employment issues, self esteem, addictions, and abuse survivor issues. I recognize the courage clients take to take that step to work through challenges to desired goals.
From street ministries through foster care, school, church, and private practice I've enjoyed the variety of clients I've been sent.

First session
Our first session is an opportunity for me to hear from you and get to know you. I will share a little of what to expect in counseling but that first session is more about what's going on in your life, what's troubling you, and what are your hopes as we progress. You are free to share attempts for resolution where you have been disappointed or any success you have made. This will be the place to share feelings about those in your life that are impacting your ability to get to victory and future hopes or dreams. I'm present for you and your best path forward.
Strengths
I have been trained in good schools but also through experience with a variety of situations including foster care case work, public school counseling, street ministry counseling, college instructing, church counseling, and private practice I've met many different issues. What stands out through it all is my clients get to resolution. We come to understand the individual goal and do the work to achieve it.
Ideal clients
Clients who have benefited most with me are those who are able to be open. Clients who are able to share real feelings and troubled areas are best able with me to develop paths to solutions that produce their higher life quality and emotional comfort. Addictions are addressed, consequences understood, supports activated, or relaxation technics instilled. Whatever problem category becomes most apparent we can address it together and promote corrective choices together knowing that solutions are attainable.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
As I listen and get to know the client we will develop improvements desired and the path to obtain those goals.
Faith based therapy
Often establishing ones faith as a foundation strengthens the will and ability to build towards concrete answers and comfort. This has been a successful place to find solutions.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
Exploring the deep recesses within provide rest and opportunity for creative thinking towards the fulfillment sought. We can practice this together for answers.
