My name is Dr. Allie Hennis. I'm a compassionate, open, and collaborative therapist who believes deeply in the power of the therapeutic relationship. Since 2002, I've helped adults struggling with anxiety, overthinking, people-pleasing, relationship concerns, fear of rejection or abandonment, difficulty setting boundaries, low self-esteem, and attachment or family-of-origin issues. I especially enjoy working with insightful, growth-oriented clients who want to better understand themselves, heal old hurts, and create healthier patterns in their lives and relationships.
Our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin understanding what brings you to therapy, what you hope will change, and what feels most important to you. I know it can be difficult to share personal parts of your life with someone new, so there is no expectation that you tell your entire story right away. We'll move at a pace that feels comfortable while beginning to identify your goals. As we continue working together, therapy is collaborative and tailored to you. We may explore connections between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, use CBT to challenge and reframe unhelpful thinking, and develop practical ways to manage anxiety. When helpful, we'll look deeper at core beliefs, attachment patterns, past hurts, and family-of-origin experiences that may be influencing how you feel and relate today. My goal is to help you not only feel better, but understand yourself more deeply and create lasting change.
I bring warmth, compassion, openness, curiosity, and 24 years of counseling experience to our work together. I believe one of my greatest strengths is creating a space where clients feel genuinely heard, understood, and accepted without judgment. I value authenticity and believe the relationship we build is an essential part of healing. What makes my approach unique is the combination of practical tools and deeper understanding. I use CBT to help you recognize connections between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and develop healthier ways of responding, while also exploring the core beliefs and experiences underneath those patterns. My extensive background working with complex trauma and attachment, along with my training as a TBRI® Practitioner, has given me a deep understanding of how early relationships can shape us throughout life. I integrate this with person-centered therapy and mindfulness, tailoring our work to you. My goal isn't simply symptom relief, but helping you understand yourself, heal old hurts, and create lasting change.
I am best positioned to serve individuals struggling with anxiety and clients who are motivated for treatment.

I believe you are the expert on your own life and already possess strengths that can help you grow, heal, and become the person you want to be. My role is not to tell you who you should be, but to provide a compassionate, authentic, and nonjudgmental space where you feel safe exploring who you are and what you need. Our relationship is at the heart of my person-centered approach. I will meet you where you are, listen with openness and curiosity, and tailor therapy to your individual needs and goals. Within that supportive relationship, I may integrate CBT, mindfulness, solution-focused strategies, and attachment-based approaches. Together, we can explore how your thoughts influence your feelings and behaviors, while also looking deeper at how early relationships, past hurts, and core beliefs may continue to shape you today. My goal is to help you recognize your strengths, understand yourself more deeply, and create meaningful change that feels authentic to you.
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you understand the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Together, we can identify unhelpful thinking patterns, examine whether those thoughts are accurate or helpful, and practice reframing them in ways that support healthier emotions and behaviors. I often incorporate mindfulness practices, such as breathing exercises, grounding, and meditation, to help you slow down, become more aware of your thoughts and emotions, and respond rather than react when anxiety or stress takes over. We may also look beneath everyday thoughts to explore the deeper core beliefs influencing them. Beliefs about yourself, your worth, relationships, trust, or acceptance can develop through childhood experiences and previous hurts. Combining practical CBT and mindfulness skills with deeper exploration can help you manage what you're experiencing today while also understanding and changing patterns at their root.
Our earliest relationships can shape how we learn to view ourselves, trust others, express our needs, and experience connection throughout our lives. I use attachment-based approaches to help you understand how these early experiences may be influencing your relationships and emotional responses today. Together, we may explore patterns such as fear of rejection or abandonment, people-pleasing, difficulty setting boundaries, seeking reassurance, avoiding vulnerability, or feeling responsible for others' emotions. Rather than judging these patterns, we work to understand where they came from and how they may have once helped you feel safe, connected, or accepted. My approach is informed by more than 25 years of experience working with attachment and complex trauma, as well as my training as a TBRI® Practitioner. I believe understanding the why behind our patterns can create greater self-compassion and open the door to healing old hurts, developing a more secure sense of self, and building healthier relationships.

I was really excited to meet with Dr. Allie after reading her profile. She was very warm and approachable and made me feel at ease. She listened to my story and was non judgmental. I am looking forward to meeting with her again and learning some new skills.

She was understanding and didn't push me.

First meeting was only 30 minutes long, though it was supposed to be an hour session. It felt rushed and not very personable on her end. I was curious to see how the second session would go, but I will never know as she has canceled outer session 2 times since the first meeting. I have decided to seek therapy elsewhere.
