Tess Coggins
Hello, my name is Tess. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Connecticut. I am employed at a facility that treats mental health and substance use. I have 6 years of experience as a therapist that could assist with issues such as anxiety, anger, and life transition concerns.
Whether you are looking to regulate emotions, navigate a transition in your life, overcome substance use, or looking for spiritual/personal growth, I can walk with you through your journey.
Whether you are looking to regulate emotions, navigate a transition in your life, overcome substance use, or looking for spiritual/personal growth, I can walk with you through your journey. I have years of experience working with individuals, helping them find strategies and techniques that work best for them and their situation, at their current stage of life.
First session
In our first session I will provide a safe place for you, as I gain an understanding of what brings you into therapy and what support looks like for you. We will work together to identify your needs and develop a treatment plan that align with your goals. Space will be provided for you to ask any questions that you may have about expectations, and the treatment process.
Strengths
As a therapist my strengths are empathy, flexible and effective communication skills. During our time together, my goal is to provide a safe and supportive environment to unpack whatever you are dealing with in a nonjudgmental collaborative way. I listen and I don't judge. I am here to provide encouragement and support however you may need it.
Ideal clients
The strategies I use work well for individuals who are experiencing anxiety, mild depression, and stress. My approach is designed to help manage thoughts and feelings that influence behaviors. My interventions are tailored to meet the specific needs of each client. My goal is to empower you to develop healthier ways of thinking and change unwanted behaviors
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
In my practice, I gravitate towards CBT. It allows individuals to manage thoughts and feelings that can influence behaviors. Interventions are tailored to meet the specific needs of each client. Clients feel empowered and develop healthy ways of thinking and feeling, so they can grow and live a more satisfying life
Eclectic
Although I gravitate towards Cognitive Behavior Therapy, the Eclectic therapeutic approach allows for the integration of different practices and strategies to develop a personalized treatment plan for every client. The approach can address issues such as management of anxiety, as well as helping clients achieve their goals. The Eclectic approach builds a foundation for positive change while providing treatment types that will be most helpful for the individual throughout the session..
