Yoberki Reyes
I'm a licensed clinical social worker with over 25 years of experience in the mental health field. I'm passionate about creating a safe, supportive space for adults and geriatric clients navigating behavioral health challenges, trauma, grief, and major life transitions.
I'm CBT and EMDR trained, bilingual in Spanish and English, and I am multi-cultural sensitive and oriented.
I work with clients to identify their strengths in order to create specific and achievable goals. I specialize in anxiety, depression, PTSD, and mood disorders.
First session
During the first session, we'll work on beginning a trusting relationship and I'll assess your needs to make sure that I can help you meet your goals. I will make sure to answer any clarifying questions or concerns in order to facilitate a comforting environment.
Strengths
I use a person-centered, strength based approach to support clients in their healing and growth. I have knowledge of CBT and EMDR but not fully trained, bilingual in Spanish and English, and I am multi-cultural sensitive and oriented. Throughout therapy sessions with me, clients verbalized and demonstrate reduced symptoms, feeling motivated to continue treatment, and learning coping mechanisms to manage symptoms.
Ideal clients
Adults struggling with life changes, traumatic experiences, suffering from depression and anxiety, Geriatric clients that experience cognitive impairments, struggle with depression and anxiety due to their limited level of functioning. Care takers of adults and geriatric clients, feeling overwhelmed and burned out due to the care provided to their love ones. Adults or geriatric clients going through the grieving process, feeling in need of guidance and support.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT is one of my favorite approaches because it helps identify and changing negative thought patterns into more positive thoughts and behaviors.
Culturally Sensitive Therapy
I believe that being knowledgeable about the client's culture is crucial. It helps understanding pattern of behaviors and what is valuable and important to the client.
EMDR
Provider's Experience: Completed basic EMDR training and has used these techniques to treat clients with mild trauma, though they do not consider themselves an expert in EMDR. How EMDR Works: It is an effective approach for trauma and PTSD that uses therapist-guided eye movements while focusing on traumatic memories, mimicking brain mechanisms similar to REM sleep.
Grief Therapy
The provider has experience treating clients through various stages of grief using a compassionate approach that encourages emotional processing.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
The provider works as a full-time therapist using Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) to deliver short-term care. They assist clients in identifying current presenting problems and establishing achievable, short-term goals using effective clinical methods.
