I have experience working with individuals ages 16 and older dealing with depression, anxiety, life transitions, parenting, chronic illness, substance abuse, marital issues, self improvement, and grief and loss. I have a strong interest in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused, and Supportive Therapy

First session

In our first session, we will start with getting to know each other, delve into your history (personal/family , medical, mental health, substance use, work/education) and then we will look at the issues that are most pressing to you currently. We will then identify your goals for therapy and this will help me tailor a plan for follow up sessions.

Strengths

Having worked many years in the field of mental health, I have seen the benefit of creating a trusting relationship of positive unconditional regard and thereby helping clients to navigate the challenges they face and equip them with the skills they need to improve their lives.

Ideal clients

I have experience working with all age groups and I would love to continue working with individual adults across the life span. I particularly like to work with clients whom are willing to make sacrifices, learn new coping mechanisms and may have to take risks in order to change. At this time, I am not accepting children or couples.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Over 7 years experience treating clients via behavioral virtual health using CBT techniques by identifying common thinking issues and applying adaptive techniques coupled with using behavioral strategies

Motivational Interviewing

I have used this approach for many years with clients seeking change in their lives but question having the ability or strength to do so. . MI is a collaborative , goal oriented therapeutic approach and is helpful when ambivalence is high and confidence is low.

Positive Psychology

I use Positive Psychology to help people identify quality of life, happiness, gratitude, resilience, positive traits, interests and how this applies to physical health
