About me

TAKE EVENING CLIENTS! I am a licensed Clinical Marriage & Family Therapist, Credentialed Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC), with more than 20 years of experience helping adolescents, young adults, individuals, couples, and families navigate life's challenges. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and solution-focused, providing a safe, supportive environment where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to create meaningful change. I specialize in working with adolescents who are struggling with peer relationships, bullying, self-esteem, identity development, anxiety, emotional regulation, and family conflict. I also enjoy helping young adults navigate major life transitions, including returning home after college, adjusting to adulthood, launching careers, developing independence, and managing changing family dynamics. For adults, I provide therapy for anxiety, depression, stress management, work-life balance, life transitions, relationship concerns, and personal growth. Whether you are feeling overwhelmed by work demands, experiencing burnout, struggling with communication, or trying to regain balance in your personal life, I work collaboratively with you to develop practical strategies that support long-term emotional wellness. I have extensive experience working with couples at every stage of their relationship, including dating, premarital counseling, marriage, intimacy concerns, communication difficulties, conflict resolution, infidelity recovery, and rebuilding emotional and physical connection. As an AASECT-Certified Sex Therapist, I also help couples address sexual concerns, desire differences, intimacy challenges, and other sensitive topics with professionalism, compassion, and without judgment. I earned a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from Hofstra University and a Master of Arts in Military Psychology from Adler University. I am licensed in both Virginia and New York and hold certifications in Divorce Mediation and Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counseling. My therapeutic approach integrates evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Solution-Focused Therapy, mindfulness techniques, and family systems theory to create individualized treatment plans for each client.

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

ACCEPTING IN PERSON AND ONLINE Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another in a comfortable, nonjudgmental environment. We'll discuss what has brought you to therapy, explore your current concerns, identify your strengths, and clarify the goals you hope to achieve. Together, we'll develop a personalized treatment plan that reflects your unique needs and provides a clear path forward. Whether you're an adolescent struggling with friendships, a young adult navigating life's transitions, an individual seeking better work-life balance, or a couple hoping to reconnect, our work together will focus on creating realistic, meaningful, and lasting change.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

One of my greatest strengths is creating an atmosphere where clients feel emotionally safe, respected, and genuinely understood. I believe healing begins when people feel accepted without judgment and are given the space to openly discuss even the most difficult aspects of their lives. My therapeutic style is warm, engaging, and highly individualized. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, I tailor each treatment plan to meet the specific needs, goals, and life experiences of every client. I combine evidence-based interventions with practical, real-world strategies that clients can immediately begin using outside of therapy. Clients often appreciate my ability to balance compassion with accountability. I help individuals recognize unhealthy patterns, strengthen emotional awareness, improve communication, develop healthier coping skills, and build stronger relationships with themselves and others. Whether working with adolescents learning to navigate peer relationships, young adults finding their place in the world, professionals managing stress and burnout, or couples rebuilding trust and intimacy, my goal is to help clients develop the confidence and skills needed to create lasting emotional well-being.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I work best with adolescents, young adults, adults, couples, and families who are ready to make meaningful changes in their lives and relationships. My ideal clients include: Adolescents experiencing peer conflict, bullying, anxiety, family challenges, emotional regulation difficulties, or self-esteem concerns. Young adults transitioning into adulthood, returning home after college, navigating career decisions, or adjusting to changing family roles. Adults struggling with anxiety, stress, burnout, work-life balance, depression, relationship difficulties, or major life transitions. Couples seeking to improve communication, rebuild trust, strengthen emotional and physical intimacy, prepare for marriage, resolve conflict, or reconnect after difficult seasons in their relationship. Families working to improve communication, strengthen parent-child relationships, navigate transitions, or restore healthy family functioning. Together, we work toward developing healthier relationships, greater emotional resilience, improved communication, and the confidence to move forward with clarity, purpose, and hope

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a highly effective, evidence-based approach that I frequently incorporate into my work as a clinical marriage and family therapist. My experience with CBT spans various relational and individual challenges, such as communication breakdowns, trust issues, anxiety, depression, and maladaptive behavioral patterns. In my practice, I use CBT to help clients recognize how their thoughts influence their emotions and actions within their relationships. For instance, a partner might believe, "My spouse doesn't care about me because they forgot our anniversary," leading to feelings of resentment and withdrawal. Through CBT, we explore these thoughts and assess their accuracy, considering alternative explanations like stress or forgetfulness. Couples Therapy: When working with couples, I use CBT to address negative interaction cycles. For example, if one partner feels unworthy and interprets neutral actions as rejection, we examine this pattern, reframe their perceptions, and practice alternative responses that promote understanding. I also teach couples to use "thought records" to track triggers and reactions, helping them gain clarity on how their thoughts influence their emotions and behaviors. Family Therapy: In family systems, CBT is instrumental in addressing intergenerational thought patterns or beliefs that perpetuate conflict. For instance, helping parents and children understand how assumptions and misinterpretations affect communication. I often incorporate role-playing techniques to allow family members to practice reframing thoughts and responding differently in challenging situations. Individual Therapy within a Relational Context: For individuals, CBT is particularly useful for enhancing self-awareness and reducing stress, which often improves relationship functioning. We work on reshaping self-critical thoughts or fears of abandonment, empowering them to engage more positively with their partners.

Attachment-based

I am a clinical marriage and family therapist with extensive experience helping families navigate conflicts, improve communication, and strengthen their bonds. My approach incorporates evidence-based practices, including Structural Family Therapy (SFT), Bowen Family Systems Therapy, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). With Structural Family Therapy, I work to identify and address dysfunctional family dynamics, helping families create healthier boundaries and improve their interactions. Using Bowen Family Systems Therapy, I assist families in understanding patterns of behavior and emotional reactivity passed down through generations, fostering greater self-awareness and relational harmony. Through Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, I guide families to identify strengths and develop practical solutions for current challenges. In my practice, I provide a safe and supportive environment where all family members can express themselves openly. I tailor interventions to each family's unique needs, focusing on fostering mutual understanding, resolving conflicts, and creating a stronger, more resilient family unit

Gottman method

I am a clinical marriage and family therapist with extensive experience helping couples navigate challenges and strengthen their relationships. My approach is rooted in evidence-based practices such as Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Gottman Method Couples Therapy, and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Through EFT, I guide couples in uncovering and addressing negative interaction patterns while fostering emotional connection and security. Using the Gottman Method, I teach practical tools to improve communication, manage conflicts effectively, and build lasting intimacy. Additionally, CBT helps partners identify and reframe negative thought patterns that may be impacting their relationship. In my practice, I create a safe and compassionate environment where both partners feel heard and understood. By tailoring treatment to each couple’s unique needs, I empower them to rebuild trust, deepen their emotional bond, and cultivate a fulfilling partnership.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

As a clinical marriage and family therapist, I specialize in mindfulness-based therapy to help individuals, couples, and families cultivate greater awareness, emotional regulation, and connection in their relationships. My approach integrates Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) techniques, tailored to the unique needs of each client. Through mindfulness practices such as meditation, breathwork, and body scanning, I guide clients in staying present, managing stress, and breaking free from reactive patterns. These tools help individuals and families build emotional resilience and foster more intentional and compassionate interactions. In my practice, I create a calming and nonjudgmental space where clients can explore their thoughts and emotions with curiosity and openness. By incorporating mindfulness techniques into therapy, I empower clients to develop deeper self-awareness, enhance communication, and create meaningful, lasting change in their relationships.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

As a clinical marriage and family therapist, I specialize in sex therapy, helping individuals and couples address sexual concerns, enhance intimacy, and improve their overall sexual well-being. My approach combines evidence-based techniques from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Sensate Focus Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). Through CBT, I assist clients in identifying and reframing negative beliefs or anxieties that may be impacting their sexual experiences. Using Sensate Focus Therapy, I guide couples through structured, non-pressured exercises designed to rebuild trust, foster physical connection, and enhance sensual awareness. With EFT, I address the emotional and relational aspects of intimacy, helping partners deepen their emotional bond and create a safe space for vulnerability. I provide a compassionate and judgment-free environment where clients feel comfortable discussing sensitive topics. By tailoring treatment to each individual or couple's unique concerns, I help them navigate challenges, discover solutions, and build fulfilling, intimate relationships. As a sex therapist with years of experience helping individuals and couples reconnect with their sensual and sexual selves, I’ve come to understand that sexual concerns are rarely just about sex. They’re often about intimacy, identity, communication, vulnerability, and the unspoken stories we carry in our bodies. Sex therapy offered them a safe, shame-free space to talk openly—perhaps for the first time—about their fears, fantasies, and longings. We explored how trauma, culture, body image, and relationship dynamics all shape the way we show up sexually. They learned that desire can ebb and flow, but with communication, trust, and playfulness, connection can be rebuilt. Sexual issues don’t make someone broken—they make someone human. And with compassion, curiosity, and the right tools, healing is not only possible—it’s transformative.
