My name is Keith Lisenbee. I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) with a variety of clinical and management experience spanning nearly 30 years. My specialties include working with individuals with issues related to major life changes, depression, anxiety, addictions, career challenges, forensic and legal cases, and life crises.

My specialties include working with individuals and couples with issues related to major life changes, depression, anxiety, addictions, career challenges, forensic and legal cases, and life crises.

I went to school in Virginia and now I live in Georgia with my wife, son, and dog.

First session

The first goal that I have at the start is to listen and to understand. My first question is: How did you get here and how can I help? The next goal is to provide actual guidance and tools to use immediately to start the road forward. Whatever the issue is. It’s ok. I’m here to listen, empathize, understand, and support you no matter what. In a world of people who don’t listen, who choose to not understand, and who do not know how to support, I’m here to support and guide you through.

Strengths

My greatest strength is building a collaborative professional relationship with the clients that I work with. The key to everything I do is building rapport and an alliance with those I serve with empathy, compassion, and genuine curiosity.

Ideal clients

The ideal client is YOU. A person. A couple. Ready to grow. Ready to progress. Even when it’s hard. Knowing that the reward at the end is to get to the finish line stronger and better than you started. I’m here for that journey. To listen. To guide. To encourage.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

In many respects how we perceive the events, ourselves, and the world around us on a cognitive level impacts how we feel. In cognitive-behavioral work, I explore this with the client(s) I work with to see the impacts and restructure them for better results.

Eclectic

I find that the best approach is using a treatment style is to find what is the best fit for the client(s) that I am working with which typically involves me using a combination of different styles with them in concert with one another.

Humanistic

The development of a relationship between myself and my clients is central to the work I do. I utilize humanistic strategies for this effort. If there is no solid professional relationship then no work can be done.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivation is the fuel of change, however, it is difficult and we end up on different stages of the path to change. Motivational interviewing uses rapport building to help establish and drive motivation to move forward.

Keith doesn’t just tell you what you want to hear—he thoughtfully challenges you while still making you feel heard and respected. Keith is an excellent therapist who creates a space where you feel both supported and genuinely challenged. He is open-minded, thoughtful, and very attentive to the dynamics and underlying issues that come up during therapy. I would highly recommend Keith to anyone looking for a therapist who is compassionate while also being willing to challenge you.

Keith's direct way of addressing the individuals who are coming to couples therapy because they feel their relationship is sick is amazing. He challenges and pushes the couple and each person into uncomfortable spaces to help show the faults in their foundation so that they can address them and repair them. I look forward to sessions with him and feel that with his help, our relationship can get back to it's healthiest state and we can thrive together.
