Devon Schroeck
Welcome! I specialize in working with survivors of emotional abuse/narcissistic abuse and women in recovery. Do you feel like you are walking on eggshells with your partner? Are you constantly belittled or humiliated by your partner and are being controlled or manipulated? Prevented from reaching out to family and friends? Together, we can break the isolation and regain your own personal power and self-esteem.
I specialize in working with survivors of emotional abuse/narcissistic abuse and women in recovery.
I know that reaching out for help can be challenging, and I want to commend you for taking this brave step towards healing. Together, we can work towards creating a brighter, healthier, and a more hopeful future. I look forward to the opportunity to work with you!
First session
Together, we will create a safe and non-judgmental space for you to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. I will actively listen to your concerns, providing empathy and understanding. Through collaborative goal-setting, we can work towards improving your overall quality of life. I will help you gain insights into your thoughts and behaviors, develop coping strategies, and enhance your self-awareness. Additionally, I will strive to ensure that the therapeutic relationship is built on trust and mutual respect. Together we will navigate the therapeutic process and work towards achieving your goals.
Strengths
I am down-to-earth and relatable, with a passion for helping others find their authentic selves and create rewarding, fulfilled lives. I am empathetic and strengths-focused, allowing you to feel heard and understood. I maintain a non-judgmental attitude, creating a safe space where you can express yourself fully without fear of criticism.
Ideal clients
I’m best positioned to serve clients who are ready for positive change and appreciate a warm, strength-based, and solution-focused approach. I work especially well with individuals who value self-awareness, want to understand their emotional patterns, and are open to learning practical skills that support growth. My style is collaborative and grounded in the belief that you already hold many of the abilities you need to thrive—we simply uncover and strengthen them together. Between sessions, I love offering reflective prompts, small action steps, or “homework” because change tends to happen fastest when insight is paired with intentional practice. I provide concrete tools for coping, emotional regulation, and resilience that you can add to your personal toolkit and continue using long after our work together. My goal is to help you feel more grounded, confident, and joyful.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
As a therapist, I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients who are struggling with various mental health issues. CBT is a type of talk therapy that aims to change negative thought patterns, beliefs, attitudes, and behaviors that are causing distress. In therapy, we’ll work together to identify the specific issues that you’re facing and how they’re impacting your life. Then, we’ll develop coping strategies that are tailored to your unique needs and goals. The goal of this therapy is to help you create a life that feels fulfilling and meaningful. We’ll work together to change your thoughts and beliefs about the issues you’re facing, and learn to manage behaviors, thoughts, and emotions that are causing distress.
