My name is April Barker Casey. I am an independently listened social worker in the state of OH. I have have over 25 years of professional experience in helping people manage symptoms of stress, and heal past trauma. I believe that you are the expert in your life and that you have strengths that will assist you in overcoming challenges. I’m here to help you manage symptoms related to stress, anxiety, trauma, and abuse so that you can thrive in the face of obstacles.
During the first session, we will introduce ourselves and I will ask a bunch of questions to determine what you are seeking from therapy. We will decide together if we are a good match and develop at least one goal to begin our work.
My experience is my most valuable asset. I believe that sessions belong to the client. The client's goal is my goal. I'm definitely a "straight shooter." I believe that therapy is what you make of it. I want clients to have the best experience possible. I am just as comfortable challenging clients as I am praising them.
I work well with clients seeking relief from symptoms of stress including anxiety and depression. Often, those clients have histories of trauma. I am comfortable delving into those histories and helping people heal. I have an excellent understanding of mental health diagnoses, and years of experience helping people manage symptoms related to those diagnoses.

April is very good at bouncing back and reiterating what I say so that I have a good understanding of my feelings. She is very caring and understanding about feelings and gives honest feed back. love her

I felt comfortable right away with April. She seemed to genuinely care about us being a good fit before deciding to move forward with therapy. I appreciate that honesty a lot. It made me feel like she cares and that I'm not just a number on her client list. I look forward to working with her more.
