Barbara Watt
I’m a clinical social worker with nearly 20 years of experience, providing telehealth therapy for adults and couples. My practice offers compassionate, practical support for trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, and relationship challenges. I take a collaborative approach, helping you understand patterns, build on your strengths, and make choices that reflect your values. I see you as a whole person, with your own experiences, priorities, and ideas about what makes life meaningful.
First session
In your first session, we will begin by getting to know you and exploring your background so I can better understand how to support you. We’ll also work together to identify the areas you would like to focus on and begin developing a treatment plan based on your goals and priorities. This process is collaborative, and you are always in control of what we discuss and the direction of our work. While the first session is primarily focused on gathering information and building a foundation, it also gives you the opportunity to ask questions and get a sense of how I work.
Strengths
My approach to therapy focuses on helping you better understand how your experiences have shaped who you are today, while also building practical skills to support meaningful change moving forward. I place a strong emphasis on being fully present in each session—listening carefully, seeking to truly understand your perspective, and asking thoughtful questions when clarification is needed. In addition to insight and exploration, I provide concrete tools and skills that you can apply in your daily life to help you navigate challenges and create lasting progress.
Ideal clients
I work best with individuals who feel ready to make meaningful changes and improve their quality of life. Many of the clients I work with are simply looking for a space where they can feel truly heard, understood, and supported. I aim to create a safe, respectful, and collaborative environment where you can show up as you are, speak openly, gain insight, and feel empowered to move forward in ways that align with your values. I have extensive experience working with trauma and supporting first responders, and I am committed to providing affirming, inclusive care for LGBTQ clients.
