Hello! My name is JC Abreu, and I am passionate about helping people navigate life's challenges while discovering their resilience and capacity for growth. I believe healing is possible for everyone, and I strive to create a supportive, affirming space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered to become your most authentic self. I have experience working with LGBTQIA+ individuals, adults, older adults, first responders, survivors of domestic violence, individuals with substance use concerns, couples, families, and clients from diverse cultural backgrounds. I treat a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, addiction, anger management, bipolar disorder, OCD, co-dependency, grief, self-esteem, relationship challenges, family conflict, divorce, men's issues, spirituality, race-related concerns, vocational stress, and life transitions. I know reaching out for help can feel vulnerable, especially when you're carrying anxiety, sadness, trauma, or the weight of life's stressors. My goal is to provide a safe, judgment-free space where you can show up as you are and move toward greater healing, confidence, and emotional well-being. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based practices tailored to your unique needs. I feel especially honored to work with LGBTQIA+ individuals, first responders, and couples and families seeking stronger relationships. Together, we'll build practical coping skills, strengthen resilience, and create meaningful, lasting change. It would be a privilege to support you on your journey, and I look forward to meeting you.

I have worked with many client populations including, LGBTQIA+, adults, aging, victims of DV, substance abuse, families, couples, cross-cultured client, and first responders.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

By understanding thought patterns, emotional responses, and behavioral presentation, the therapist and client can work on altering negative thought patterns, identifying better coping skills, and regulating emotions, which will impact behavioral presentations.

Trauma Informed Care

Trauma happens suddenly and without warning, and can have a devastating effect on our lives. Understanding the various aspects impacted by life events which cause negative outcomes has helped my clients from a holistic perspective. With gentle, and informed care, trauma can be identified, processed, and you can continue to live your life without it holding you back.

Strength-Based

We all have strengths! We may not all understand our strengths, or need support in beginning to use them again. Therapy is a great, safe place to identify and practice the strengths you already have, and build new ones.

What brought me to JC was her warm and welcoming attitude. I never once felt like I was being judged or criticized for anything that I shared. She listened with empathy and offered great advice to stay grounded. As a trans individual, I find it difficult to find providers who truly understand what it's like to be trans and all the struggles that may come with it, so finding a provider who is so warm and thoughtful and deeply understands the trans experience made me feel seen in ways I never had.

JC is the fifth or sixth therapist I have worked with, and I have never felt so optimistic after a first session. She really leaves space for me to speak. Other therapists make me feel like there is a script I need to learn. I can discover myself with JC.
