Hello, I’m Carolyn, a Licensed Clinical Independent Social Worker (LICSW) at Grow Therapy. I’m so glad you’re here. Reaching out for support—whether starting therapy for the first time or finding a new therapist—can feel like a big step. My goal is to create a safe, compassionate, and nonjudgmental space where you feel comfortable, supported, and truly heard. I work collaboratively with my clients to explore what brings you to therapy and to identify meaningful goals we can work toward together. I strive to meet you where you are and support you at your own pace throughout the process. One of the most meaningful compliments I’ve received was from a client who shared that I made them feel “so special.” That reflects the heart of my approach—I lead with compassion and aim to help each person feel valued, supported, and understood, especially during difficult times. You may also occasionally see my Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Chloe, who sometimes joins sessions to provide a little extra comfort. You are not alone. I’m here to support you, and I look forward to meeting you and walking alongside you on your journey toward healing.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
A new client can expect a compassionate, attentive listener in their first session. We’ll spend time talking about what brings you to therapy, any concerns or challenges you’ve been experiencing, and what you hope to gain from our work together. I’ll also ask some questions about your background—such as your personal history, relationships, and overall well-being—to better understand your experiences and how to support you. This helps guide our work and ensures that therapy is tailored to your individual needs. You’re welcome to share as much or as little as you feel ready for—there’s no pressure to open up all at once. During the session, I’ll review how therapy typically works and explain my approach so you can get a clear sense of what it’s like to work with me. I’ll also provide a brief introduction to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), which are the primary frameworks I use. Because I often work with clients experiencing anxiety, I find it helpful to provide this structure upfront so you know what to expect. You’ll leave the session with a better understanding of my style and approach, and I encourage you to reflect on whether we feel like a good fit and can align on your treatment goals. By the end of the session, we may begin identifying initial goals for therapy and discuss next steps. Most importantly, my goal is for you to feel heard, supported, and respected from the very beginning.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
One of my greatest strengths as a therapist is my ability to create a warm, compassionate, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel safe to be open and authentic. I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship is the foundation for meaningful change, and I work collaboratively with clients to ensure they feel heard, respected, and supported throughout the process. In terms of methods, I primarily use evidence-based treatment approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). These approaches help clients better understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, while also building practical skills to manage distress, regulate emotions, and navigate challenges more effectively. I tailor these techniques to each individual, recognizing that therapy is not one-size-fits-all. My clinical experience includes working with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, mood disorders, and addiction. I support clients in identifying patterns that contribute to emotional distress or substance use, while helping them develop healthier coping strategies, improve emotional regulation, and build more stable and fulfilling daily routines. I take a supportive and structured approach, meeting clients where they are while also encouraging meaningful, sustainable change. In terms of results, my goal is to help clients feel more empowered, confident, and in control of their emotional well-being. Clients often experience reduced symptoms of anxiety and depression, improved mood stability, stronger coping skills, and increased self-awareness. For those working through addiction, this may also include strengthening relapse prevention skills, building healthier habits, and fostering long-term recovery. I emphasize helping clients build resilience so they can continue to grow and thrive beyond therapy.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is an evidenced based treatment that benefits my clients with anxiety, depression and addiction. I use CBT as the basis of my treatment by explaining the relationship between thoughts, feelings and behaviors and working on cognitive restructuring. I partner with my clients to teach them how to challenge and change their thoughts so that they can manage their negative feelings on their own.

She seems to really understand me and can relate my situation to similar situations that other clients and even she has been through. She has a lot of good tips that are very helpful, since I really don´t know how to cope with difficult situations. I´ve used some of these tips and they have helped me.
