As a licensed mental health counselor with over 30 years of experience, I primarily work with individuals experiencing anxiety and trauma. I use cognitive and mind-body techniques to help people settle their bodies and avoid getting caught in unhelpful thought patterns. I am passionate about helping people to identify and move toward their values...the things that matter to them the most in life, in order to have a more fulfilling life.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

No first session is alike. Typically, during your first session, we will focus on what brings you to therapy and the changes you hope to make in your life. I will also talk about the approaches I tend to utilize in sessions.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

l am authentic and down to earth. People often feel comfortable sharing with me. I am good at putting people at ease. I use a mind body approach called Accelerated Resolution Therapy to help people reduce symptoms from trauma. Clients have told me that they feel calmer and have sleep better after A.R.T. sessions I also practice Acceptance and Commitment Therapy techniques with clients. This approach has led some of my clients to not let their anxiety get in the way of them having a fuller life.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My clients are adults who tend to have had anxiety for a long time. They often have experienced trauma as well. They have tried more traditional talk therapy approaches, and are looking for different approaches to help them to feel better. I love to work with people who are curious about themselves and others, and want to have healthy connections with people.

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

A.C.T. is a type of cognitive therapy approach that helps people to notice their thoughts and hold them more lightly. Mindfulness of how we feel internally and what thoughts we are having can help people recognize roadblocks to having a more fulfilling life.

EMDR

I am trained in EMDR, but prefer to use Accelerated Resolution Therapy which is another bilateral stimulation therapy (mind/body approach) that helps people process and resolve traumatic memories.
