First session

During our first session, we will spend time hearing your story, getting to know you, and collecting some history. I will seek to understand, assess, and if applicable, diagnose some issues that are holding you back from being the person you want to be. I will provide a compassionate, safe, non-judgmental space where I will provide unconditional positive regard for you and your situation. We will begin to articulate and formulate some overall goals you want to get out of our work together and I will set you up with your first of many tools and skills that you'll add to your toolbox for present and future success.

Strengths

One of my greatest strengths as a therapist is that I have been around long enough to have seen and heard just about everything. With 27 years in the field, nothing embarrasses, shocks, or surprises me anymore, so rest assured that you can bring your deepest, darkest pain and struggles to the table without fear of judgement.

Ideal clients

Clients who wish to integrate their Christian faith system into the counseling process (but not limited only to Christians) to address issues such as: Anxiety; sleep disturbance; life transitions such as going away to college; addictions including food, gambling, pornography, smoking, internet gaming; relationship conflict; job satisfaction; unwanted same-sex attraction; loneliness; social phobias, Obsessive Compulsive Disorders; Adjustment Disorders; depression; anger management; called-workers in the church such as pastors or teachers.

Treatment methods

Christian Counseling

For those clients who wish to incorporate their Christian faith into the counseling process, we can draw on God's promises and truths to enhance hope and healing.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Sometimes what we do is based on what we think about something. Learning how to reframe thoughts can impact our feelings and behaviors to produce more successful results.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Learning how to be present in the moment is very effective way to manage anxiety, attention deficit, sleep disruption, and stress management.

Schema Therapy

What you believe affects what you perceive. Our perceptions inform our reality. Negative core beliefs can cause distress in interpersonal relationships.
