Aisha McClain
Hi there! I am a Licensed Certified Social Worker -Clinical. I graduated from the University of Maryland School of Social Work. I have 10 years of experience providing clinical services to adults, families, and children.
Having worked with women in all phases of their lives, I have been successful at helping them to recognize their own unique strengths, slow down, and use therapy as a form of self-care.
In my practice, I use a stregth based approach to help adults who struggle with managing the complexities of life - home, family, and career.
First session
In our first session together, we'll begin by brief introductions. I will actively listen and meet you with compassion as you discuss the challenges you're facing and expectations of therapy. Then, we'll discuss a tailored plan for us to work on in follow-up sessions.
Strengths
My style of therapy is conversational. I am here to help clear and free your mind of the demands life can bring day to day. Having worked with women in all phases of their lives, I have been successful at helping them to recognize their own unique strengths, slow down, and use therapy as a form of self-care. Together, we will identify barriers that keep you feeling stuck.
Ideal clients
I love working with young and mature women who are in various stages of their life. My clients have a desire to see change and improvement, but they're not sure how to bring balance to their lives. They are often left feeling anxious, overwhelmed, stuck and depressed. My ideal client is motivated to put their life into perspective and build the skills to move forward.
Treatment methods
Eclectic
There is no one size fits all when managing the complexities of life. I use a strength based approach to meet you where you are while challenging thoughts and behaviors that may leave you feeling stuck. There are times we may need to take a deep dive to unpack childhood experiences to help better understand how your experiences have shaped the perception of yourself and the world around you.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
We will explore your thoughts , feelings, and how it impacts behaviors. We will implement coping skills that will allow you to think alternatively and have improvement in daily functioning.
