Welcome to my profile! Thank you for being here. I am Crystal, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I am excited that you are ready to embark on a journey self care focused on improving overall health and wellness. I would love to collaborate with you on this incredible and transformative journey! Therapy is about curating a safe space where you can be your authentic self, while crafting intentional goals that assist you in becoming the very best version of yourself. I bring a wealth of professional experience that is both culturally aware, and non judgmental.
During our first session we will focus on establishing a strong therapeutic relationship. We will review your intake and discuss your specific goals for therapy.
My greatest strength is my therapeutic self. I am a very warm, caring, and empathetic clinician who believes that everyone is the expert of their own life, that you inherently possess everything you need for healing and fulfillment, and that everyone is doing the best they can. This is your journey, and your process. I will be cheering you on every step of the way.
I am best positioned to serve clients who are committed to the change process and who have an open mind about what their healing or highest version of themselves looks like.

I do not believe that therapy should be approached from a one size fits all perspective. I intentionally select various techniques and evidenced based modalities to assist you to achieve your treatment goals. Some of my favorite treatment methods include IFS, Somatic Therapy, CBT, and elements from EMDR.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
I have received extensive consultation in IFS. I believe that this treatment method has the ability to foster life changing healing from trauma, greater insight of self, and promotes an inner sense of calm. I believe that the exploration of the burdened internal system can be a liberating experience. In IFS we will create a safe space to explore various parts of the self- parts of the self that hold painful memories and burdens, parts of the self that behave in specific ways to protect the self, and parts of the self that act to soothe, calm , or distract. We will work collaboratively toward you presenting as your core self. The core self is associated with calmness, curiosity, compassion, connectedness, confidence, creativity, courage, and clarity.
Narrative
Narrative therapy holds transformative power. To tell your story aloud can be empowering. In therapy you will have the opportunity to tell your authentic, uncensored story. Narrative therapy can present amazing opportunities to identify negative cognitions and emotions that we may hold about ourselves and others.
Somatic
I believe that trauma can be stored in the body. Somatic therapy is a wonderful way to physically heal from trauma. Somatic therapy encourages one to utilize body awareness, movement, and breath work to become aware of bodily sensations and to release stored emotions that can cause pain and physical illness.

Initially, I didn't even know who I needed in a therapist and I feel like I was just randomly picking. I got very lucky when I found Ms. Barnes though. She's very empathetic and solution based. She definitely gives me space to talk through my feelings and I usually can't wait to talk to her the next week and update her on my life. She's amazing!!

The state of the world combined with personal losses and grief had me feeling completely overwhelmed and anxious. Crystal has helped me slow down, use self care to regulate my emotions and center the positive relationships and things going on in my life. Crystal is friendly and warm and her personality makes it easy to talk about things. I appreciate her insights. I'm glad I decided to start therapy!

Crystal has such a warm spirit about her. I am usually adverse to talking in therapy and have to be coached into talking but I was comfortable with talking to Crystal from the moment I joined the appointment. I felt she actually cared when I was talking to her and it wasn’t about just taking notes. She genuinely listened to me and I can’t wait for the next session. I thank her so much for being the ear I need at this time.
