I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I received my Master of Science in Professional Counseling from Grand Canyon University in 2014. I am a National Certified Counselor, Certified Grief Counselor, an Advanced Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist, Certified Forensic Mental Health Evaluator, and Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor. I focus mostly on Psychodynamic Therapy, CBT, and Motivational Interviewing to allow clients to safely and openly share their struggles and help them gain insight and motivation for change in their own lives but frequently apply other modalities based on the needs clients as I am client centered. I am also solution focused so that we can get started as soon as clients are comfortable to begin this journey. In working with me, your safety is paramount and I will ensure that my skills are utilized in helping you feel safe to share your struggles and work through your challenges. I am trauma informed, compassionate, empathetic, and nonjudgmental in my work with clients to build rapport and help them feel comfortable to work to overcome their struggles. In my free time, I enjoy hanging out with friends, traveling, cooking, and spending time with family.

First session

A first session might feel: Getting to know you and why you’re coming in; building safety and rapport; looking at your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors; exploring deeper themes and/or history; and noticing your relationship to evaluate your inner mental space. How the session might feel: Emotionally validating, because I will be trying to understand you deeply; reflective, because you may be asked to notice patterns; goal-oriented, because I will likely ask what you want to change; and gentle but focused, because I may balance emotional exploration with practical next steps.

Strengths

My biggest strengths are having experiences in almost any setting working with almost any population. I have ability to adjust and accommodate circumstances and situations while building rapport so that growth and healing happens.

Ideal clients

I enjoy working with people. I want everyone to be the best version of themselves so that they can thrive in life and not just survive. My hope is that people can take away from therapy, that life is meant to be lived and enjoy with positive intentions and consistent efforts for growth. Client who select me to be their therapist should be willing to work on moving in a positive direction.

Treatment methods

Trauma-Focused CBT

Trauma has been an interests of mine since starting as a therapist. I feel that our past experiences shape how we view the world and have future experiences. It is helpful to recognize how and what things can be both viewed and done differently for the best possible outcomes, not from previous negative experiences.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

Sometime we have to work on accepting things the way that they are and recognized that we do not have to do anything to change them but consider how we may move through challenges.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I think of this as retraining the brain. We have been conditioned a certain way in which we have learned things. Sometime we need to relearn some things.

Motivational Interviewing

This works well with CBT in starting to change behaviors by changing how we talk and see things. We can gain a lot of insight when we take a moment to consider alternative the factors.

Psychodynamic

Sometimes we just need to talk things out to sort them out in our minds.

She is direct, realistic, funny, and incredibly personable, which is exactly what I needed, especially when discussing difficult or challenging things. What stands out most to me is that she doesn’t sugarcoat things. She holds me accountable, and is very intentional with her words while still making me feel heard and understood. I appreciate how authentic and genuine she is, I’m grateful for her thought process, approach, and the way she challenges me to look at things differently.
