I am excited about the success my clients have accomplished. It is their discovery that is most interesting: for example, it is possible to change personality even though we have always been told it never happens! We approach this by exploring emotions that form the building blocks of personality.

It is their discovery that is most interesting: for example, it is possible to change personality even though we have always been told it never happens!

In this sort of work, I find that the most effective therapy happens when clients and I form a interpersonal therapeutic bond of trust. By the way, when I say that change is possible , I really believe it, and I am confident that if you are willing to work on what many would call impossible...building trust...you will leave our sessions feeling a sense of increased wholeness. (Today also marks the beginning of a new partnership with Teach America! I have loved Teach America since they began. Grow Therapy and I are offering 20 counseling sessions to Teach America members free of charge!)

First session

We will set some goals, establish what needs to change, explore things that bother you and things that make you feel better. Then we will build a plan of therapy to identify as many possibilities as possible to empower your personal developmental pathway as a person or a family member. Along the way, we will definitely start working on trust in both directions.

Strengths

One of the greatest therapists ever, Dr. Irvin D. Yalom said "Life as a therapist is a life of service in which we daily transcend our personal wishes and turn our gaze toward the needs and growth of the other. We take pleasure not only in the growth of our patient but also in the ripple effect—the salutary influence our patients have upon those whom they touch in life." I think that is what drives me everyday!

Ideal clients

Dream clients include men and women 19 y.o. to 60 y.o. who may be struggling with anxiety, relationship discord, self-esteem, PTSD, and other traumatic events. I have also been effective with persons demonstrating personality disorders including Narcissistic Personality Disorder and Borderline Personality Disorder. My training in family and marriage is extensive, including families with several children and extended relatives. Recently, I have been quite successful using new research on Personalities, Emotions and Attachment in complicated clinical situations.

Treatment methods

Interpersonal

For 8 years, I have used this mehod extensively with adults, especially in relational discord, anxiety, and trauma. Interpersonal neurobiology (IPNB) is an interdisciplinary framework that explores the connections between the mind, brain, and interpersonal relationships. Developed by Dr. Daniel J. Siegel, IPNB emphasizes how our mental states and neurological wiring are shaped by social interactions and experiences. This approach integrates insights from various fields, including psychology, neuroscience, and relational dynamics, to understand human behavior and mental health better. Key Concepts Mind and Brain Interaction: IPNB posits that the mind is not just a product of the brain but is influenced by relationships and social contexts . Continuous Brain Growth: The framework supports the idea that the brain can grow and change throughout life, influenced by interpersonal experiences . Clinical Applications: IPNB informs therapeutic practices, helping clinicians understand how relational dynamics impact mental health and well-being . Importance IPNB provides a comprehensive understanding of how relationships affect mental processes, offering valuable insights for therapy and personal development

Gottman method

I have used Gottman's mehods for saving marriages and other relationships in brief therapy sessions!

Eric seems to actually care. What brought me to him was his profile. He said he was humorous and I thought that would fit my personality then i was not let down
