I am a licensed professional counselor with experience working with mental health, trauma, addiction, grief, and couples counseling.
It is my hope to build trust in a therapeutic relationship by providing safe and nonjudgmental therapy. My desire is for you to feel comfortable in relating your goals and needs. I will collaborate with you in understanding what will work best for you to reach those goals and get your needs met. Through knowledge, encouragement, support, and relationship, I will help you reach your full potential.
First session
In our first session together, we will get to know each other and help you feel comfortable. We will discuss what brought you to therapy and begin creating a treatment plan together.
Strengths
The ability to empathize and understand the client's worldview. In other words, I try to see how the client views the world and the issues that led them to therapy.
Ideal clients
I love working with clients who are ready to make changes in their life and are open. When clients learn something that helps them to function better in their relationships, work, and day to day living as well as start living a life they deserve, it is wonderful to see.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I have several years of experience in using CBT to help clients be able to understand their beliefs, thoughts, and feelings in order to make needed changes.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
My experience with clients using ACT include helping clients distance from their thoughts, match their behaviors to their values, and accept their thoughts and feelings instead of fighting them.
Gottman method
I have worked with couples using the Gottman method which incorporates "The Four Horseman" in helping couples communicate more effectively, understand each other's needs, and increase intimacy. I am also knowledgeable of Emotion Focused Therapy.
Exposure Response Prevention (ERP)
I am trained in ERP and use ERP to help those with OCD and other anxiety disorders such as general anxiety disorder, social anxiety, illness anxiety disorder and phobias. Through repetition of exposures, clients learn to tolerate their anxiety and become less anxious and fearful.
Trauma Informed Care
Trained in trauma informed care using a holistic treatment approach of mindfulness, TF-CBT, art therapy, and psychoeducation.
