Kinya M Lucas-Brown
Hi! I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Illinois, and I am a virtual practice. I received my Masters from the Loyola University Chicago and have been in this industry for almost 20 years. I help young adults and adults struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, and childhood-trauma become the best versions of themselves.
Having worked with women for the past 5 years, I've developed a tried-and-true playbook for helping you (a) identify the root cause of your challenges and (b) create a tailored plan that leads to measurable progress.
I very much like a positive and strength-based approach to therapy. I think it is important to find balance in your life and it starts with improving self-esteem.
First session
In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions. Homework is not out of the question! Some clients tell me they feel like they have chatted with a friend, and also realize there has been growth in the conversation, and noticed they have tapped into all their strength.

Ideal clients
I love working with women who may be experiencing anxiety or continuing to feel like they have cycles and patterns they don't know how to change. My clients are eager to improve, but don't yet have the tools needed to make this goal a reality right now. They often feel stuck, overwhelmed and anxious about their careers, family, self-esteem, and relationships.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I try to use this as often as I can in my practice to engage clients in realizing they already have what's needed inside them. In collaboration with the client I try to help guide them back to the light they already have. The client is the expert in this treatment, and when working together we will set attainable goals to get them back to who they think they may have lost along the way.
Strength-Based
With this therapy modality I listen for strengths that the client may not even realize is there due to the overhanging issue. I began to show the client what I can see from my aerial view, so they can realize how powerful they are and can be.
