Hey there, Im Brittnee (she/they). I am a counselor, art therapist and child life specialist born and raised in Durham, North Carolina. I have experience and enjoy working with all ages and I specialize in working with children and adolescents as they navigate early life stressors. I have over ten years of experience as a certified child life specialist where I have worked with children and families as they navigate medicalized stress which can include; new diagnoses, hospitalizations and chronic illnesses.
First session
Our first few sessions will be guided by your comfort level. As we are getting to know each other I will help you get a better understanding of your needs in therapy and the best ways to address them.
Strengths
My clients often share that my questions are deeply useful and thoughtful. I have a pure curiosity to understand my client's and their emotional world's without judgment.
Ideal clients
I typically see children who are navigating transitions and need an outlet for adjusting to big changes. This can include moves, change in schools, new diagnosis, familial changes etc. I use my art therapy training to help individuals explore many forms of self expression and ways to cope with newly onset stress. Additionally, I work with individuals of all ages and remain a support system for people throughout their life.

I have experience using many treatment methods including DBT, CBT, and art therapy. My priority is to first understand the person I am working with using a Humanistic approach.
