Life is always changing and sometimes those changes are not always easy to deal with. There is no one way to deal with everything thrown at us. Using a person-centered and integrative model of therapy helps clients feel better about their current situation. I have an extensive background working with worry issues, feeling down, and matters of spirituality. I have trained in and have 10 year experience in expressive art therapy, solution-focused therapy, nature therapy, yoga, mindfulness, nutrition, processing events, positive relationships, and more. I am here to guide you through the hard times, bad times, and good times. In graduate school at Saint Leo University, I obtain a Master's in Social Work (MSW) specializing in Advanced Clinical Practice. Before receiving my MSW, I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interpersonal and Organizational Communication with minors in Film and Creative Writing. I have worked in a wide range of positions in the helping professions including community health centers, private practice, child welfare diversion, non-profits, life coaching, overnight summer camps, tutoring, in county school systems, Department of Veteran Affairs, among others. In his free time, Chad likes to travel, see movies, be in nature, and participate in the arts. I am also Licensed in Utah and take cash paying clients currently living in Utah.

Are you looking for your life to be different somehow, but you aren't sure exactly what that would look like, or how to make it happen? I can help you identify your most pressing issues, then help you identify solutions that you believe will work and support you while you start to implement changes. I believe you are the most likely person to be able to identify your best solutions, and perhaps all you need is encouragement and acceptance to get started. I work from a background of existential theory (the idea that our human experiences are shared and we are all looking for meaning, purpose, satisfying relationships, and personal freedom), and I blend cognitive behavioral theory (CBT), motivational interviewing, radical acceptance, and humor into therapy. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a method of learning the connections between our actions, our feelings, our thoughts, and our physical sensations. Motivational interviewing (MI) is a way to encourage positive changes without it feeling overwhelming or scary. I believe every person deserves care, concern, and a safe space to explore their feelings without judgment or fear. I aim to be easy to talk to, an excellent and attentive listener, and always supportive. I sometimes recommend helpful assignments in between therapy sessions to help you practice new skills and learn hidden truths about yourself. I help people who have been codependent on their partner to become freer to make their own decisions and to trust their partner to do the same. I can help you learn specific techniques to lessen the symptoms of your anxiety, depression, and sleep disturbances.

Building self-awareness is often a hard place to start. I meet my patients where they are in their journey and support the process. Sometimes taking the first step to explore psychotherapy is confusing. Ask questions so you can find a therapist who is the right fit for you. My approach meets people where they are presently, to determine where they want to be in the future. I like to get to know my new patients to determine their needs in treatment.

I am Sarah Hewitt, a licensed, nationally certified, Clinical Mental Health Counselor (CMHC). I am licensed in Utah & Indiana. I have over 7 years of experience in providing mental health and behavioral interventions, in a variety of populations including children, families, and women. I have worked with clients with a wide range of experiences and mental health concerns some of which include depression, anxiety, relationships issues, parenting issues, behavior concerns, ADHD, trauma, complex PTSD, and compulsory disorders. I am available M-Th 7 am-2 pm EST. I encourage email communication regarding the therapy process, your questions, and any concerns. I generally check messages throughout the day; however, my practice hours are 7 am-2 pm EST Monday-Thursday. If you do not see a time in my schedule please reach out and let me know and we can work to look at the options together. Given the nature of this work, I am not always immediately available to respond. I will do my best to respond as promptly as I can, usually within 24 business hours. Weekends are an exception as I must include time for self-care, as should you! Because there may be times when I am unavailable to respond immediately, your patience when response times are long is greatly appreciated, as I am likely responding or attending to other clients or responsibilities. You are also welcome to schedule a live session ahead of time. Please remember that if you are in crisis or immediate need of support call 911 or local emergency services. You can also call 1-800-273-TALK (8255) to talk to someone right away!

Hello and welcome to Grow Therapy! My name is Jennifer. I have both Master’s and Education Specialist degrees in Counseling, with a specialization in Couples and Family. After many years of therapy practice, I went back to school and, in 2019, graduated with a BSN in Nursing. I’ve worked as a licensed therapist in North Carolina for 17 years. I work frequently with difficult relationship dynamics whether in families or among romantic partners. I do quite a bit of work in trauma recovery, anxiety and stress reduction, resiliency-building, and identity development. Mine is a holistic, positive, supportive approach that promotes self-awareness and the interruption of unhelpful patterns of thought and behavior that lead to being "stuck". I teach mindfulness, yogic interventions and encourage gratitude and curiosity in my clients! In my spare time I enjoy hiking, dancing on my roller skates, beekeeping and chasing my dog and kids! I hope we are a good fit and look forward to connecting with you.

For over 18 years, I have been empowering individuals to live their best lives while coping with difficulties including anxiety, depression, trauma, medical concerns, and infertility. I have a variety of personal and professional experiences that contribute to the development of my empathy, understanding, and relatability. I began my career working with children who had a family member murdered. Since then I have worked with a variety of trauma victims including sexual abuse survivors, adults with child abuse histories, and domestic violence victims. I love helping individuals with trauma make peace with their trauma. I have extensive experience helping people with eating concerns and make peace with food. I am in the process of becoming a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor. I, also, have worked with many individuals who need help finding motivation to move forward. Whether you're a young adult confused about what to do next, an individual struggling with depression or grief coping with discouragement, or a person with anxiety afraid to make changes, I can assist you in making steps to move forward in your life. In addition, I have counseled many individuals struggling emotionally due to chronic medical conditions. I am a cancer survivor; therefore I am extremely passionate about helping others cope with medical conditions, chronic pain, and infertility. I work hard to be culturally competent. I love to travel and have visited (and lived) all over the world; therefore, I am familiar with working with people of difficult cultures and backgrounds I understand starting counseling can be very “nerve-racking.” I will try to make it as comfortable as possible. My counseling style is warm, patient, and client-centered. I encourage my clients to develop their own goals and areas of focus, but I am always there to help guide them. Also, I am very logical and insight-oriented. My clients often comment that I have helped them develop new understandings and perspectives. I am looking forward to hearing from you!

People can make better decisions if they have enough information and understanding about how counseling works. Here are some aspects of counseling and therapy as I perceive and practice it: Therapeutic counseling requires your active involvement including efforts to change any self-defeating thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. You will be asked to work both in and out of the therapeutic counseling sessions. I may occasionally request that you do “homework” (ok-not a formal request because life happens and inevitably it will be that you have life duties to attend to but maybe jotting things down or making notes for yourself kind of homework) by way of providing you with further reinforcement to concepts discussed in session or simply to prompt further insight and self- exploration. There are no instant, painless, or passive cures, no “magic pills”. Instead, there will be ongoing personal and spiritual growth that can occur with your conscious effort. Most likely, you will need to work on improving stress management, cognitions (e.g. beliefs and thought processes), emotional health, relationships, and your general lifestyle if counseling is to be successful. Sometimes change will be relatively easy but more often change takes much effort, time, and persistence. My hope for you is that you grow into your best self in the present and that that allows you to be your best version for your future. Therapy is about YOU and your needs. I specialize in trauma, mood, and anxiety disorders and am an LGBTQ++ ally and kink-aware professional.
