It is not easy to ask for help, but sometimes we have to admit what we are doing may not be working. If you are dealing with depression, grief, loss, anxiety, or trauma, my goal is to help you find what works. So that you can be the best version of yourself and start to live a happier life. My aim is to make therapy collaborative and comfortable. Because I understand the importance of talking to someone and not feeling judged or being criticized. Therapy is about healing, motivation, and empowerment. I specialize in working with adolescents, adults/seniors on an array of different issues. Depression and Anxiety are the most common diagnoses I see daily. I'm also passionate about helping individuals understand the relationships between their Adverse Childhood Experiences and current mental health needs. One of the most important things I learned from being a Social worker is that I may be a person's last stop for help. Therefore, I have dedicated myself to utilizing my skill sets for the best interest of my clients; so they feel individualized and supported through their journey. Please feel free to reach out.

You have many choices when it comes to picking a counselor/therapist, but what is the most important thing to consider when choosing? Does the person appear to be kind? Do they have the qualifications to serve you? Does he/she make you feel comfortable and ease the anxiety you might be feeling regarding sharing such personal information so quickly? How does the office environment feel (telehealth or in the office)? More importantly, how quickly do you feel your exact problem is being addressed?

Welcome! I'm an LCSW and Louisiana native who practices in both, Texas & Louisiana. I’ve worked with a variety of clinical presentations, in various clinical settings. I have experience working with youth, adults, veterans and families. The settings in which I’ve practiced include intense inpatient, clinic, substance use disorder treatment, mental health rehabilitation, correctional rehabilitation facility and school settings. I'm newly EMDR TRAINED. I collaboratively assist clients with improving their self-esteem and self-worth, processing trauma, managing depression and anxiety, challenging negative thought processes, emotion dysregulation, and processing symptoms of grief and mood disorders. This is a collaborative therapeutic process that allows fostering healthy intrapersonal and interpersonal relationships, resolving symptoms of grief and trauma, modifying negative internal narratives, managing anxiety and depression, decreasing emotion dysregulation and dissociating, and fostering one's sense of self. I've worked with adults, families and adolescents who experienced anxiety, depression, family transitions, trauma wounds, anxiety, low self-esteem, PTSD, LGTBQIA transitions, substance use, bipolar mood disorders, personality disorders and several other life challenges etc. I have been so honored to be present throughout my client's journeys of growth, if only to help unburden them from internal suffering. I strive to be both non-judgmental, and collaborative, while challenging those that fear based responses to the environment.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who specializes in working with adults who are struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, insomnia, chronic pain and/or chronic illness. Other areas of focus that I can help you with include relationship issues, anger, stress-management, physical and learning disabilities including ADD/ADHD, life-stage issues and self-esteem. My professional career began as a certified American Sign Language Interpreter in 2001 and quickly progressed into earning a Graduate degree in Social Work at the University of Texas at Austin. My training provided the experience needed to work in a community mental health clinic providing high quality mental health care to residents in Austin, TX for 6 years. My interests in whole health led me to San Antonio to work with chronic illness, transplant, and geriatric care for roughly 10 years. Along this journey, I have had the opportunity to work with multinational clients seeking refugee services, worked as the Associate Director for Student Accessibility Services at a private university and currently involved in a fulfilling career as a counselor to veterans of our Armed Forces. I enjoy staying busy. On my time off, I thoroughly enjoy spending time with my friends and family, always searching for my next adventure.

My treatment approach utilizes my diverse skill set and is based on a thorough assessment of my client’s goals and related needs. You are a woman who has been devastated by grief over pregnancy loss, infertility, or postpartum depression and anxiety. You desperately want to find someone to talk to about how alone and sad you feel. You feel heartbroken, ashamed, and angry lately. Your world has stopped while everyone else seems to be living their best life. You find yourself having the same fights with your partner over and over again. Society glamorizes pregnancy and motherhood which can make you feel even more alone and misunderstood. If you see one more pregnancy announcement or social media post about the happiness of motherhood, you might lose it! Your baby is important to you no matter how much time you have spent with them. You want to learn how to keep your baby’s memory alive. You want to learn how to experience happiness during this new transition to motherhood. You want to feel heard by someone without shame or judgment. You are not alone. As a woman, I have been there.

I am a second career social worker, who graduated with my MSW in 2014 and my Ph.D. in 2019, both from the University of Houston’s Graduate College of Social Work. I am originally from New Orleans, Louisiana, but have lived in the Houston area for 30+ years. I decided to become a social worker because of my personal experiences raising a child with behavioral health issues and experiencing profound loss following the sudden death of my husband. My goals were to help others the way my own family had been helped, but I also hoped to improve the experiences of others with similar lived experiences but less positive outcomes. I have worked in a variety of settings, including West Oaks Hospital (a specialty psychiatric hospital) and its affiliated outpatient settings, where I provided individual, group, and family therapy to adults and adolescents experiencing significant mental health crises. I have also worked in home hospice care, assisting individuals and families with both pre-bereavement and post-bereavement support, and where I facilitated online support groups for caregivers and for individuals experiencing grief and bereavement. In addition to my private practice, I am an adjunct professor at the University of Houston’s Graduate College of Social Work, and I frequently consult with immigration lawyers about the ways in which mental health issues may impact the path to asylum or citizenship. Although I do not consider myself to be a trauma specialist, I do practice with a trauma-informed style and am always conscious of the ways in which trauma impacts the lives and experiences of individuals in all walks of life. I have experience working with people who live with ADHD, anxiety, autism, depression, and mood disorders generally. My goal is always to support my clients in achieving their own goals for a happier and healthier life.
