I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 13 years of experience helping clients. I am a proud Appalachian-American that was born and raised deep in the mountains of Upper Northeast TN. Although my life experience is about what one would expect from this area (cue banjo music), my work experience is vastly different. I have been fortunate to get to work with individuals from all walks of life. I have worked with clients (thanks to the internet) from all over the world, various cultures, religious beliefs, race, gender spectrums and socioeconomic status. One thing I have learned in my work with all of these individuals is that although each of their stories are unique, ultimately, they all seek/want the same core things. I think much of my success in working with a wide assortment of clients is that I attempt to be open, understanding, curious and cultivate a nonjudgmental atmosphere for our sessions. The working relationship between a therapist and their client is a key factor to client’s achieving treatment goals.

My name is Lindsay and I first want to say thank you for taking time to read this. If you are reading this, it's possible that you are searching for answers in the form of searching for a counselor. It’s possible that you are hurting. Or maybe you are just browsing and that is okay too! Just the act of considering the sharing of yourself is a massive step in working toward getting help. As life comes, as it does, experiencing situations and emotions that are confusing and frightening is truer to the human experience than most would like to admit. It's not uncommon to carry anxiety, depression, fear, guilt, and shame (just to name a few) like a low-grade fever that still allows us to function, but barely. We all have different ideas of what counseling looks like. For a long time, I could only picture the typical laying on a couch in which the counselee divulged their darkest secrets to an extensively trained professional with glasses and a clipboard that made sense of everything even if all the information they had was a squiggle and a dot. Thank you, TV therapy. At its core, counseling is about change. I am a Christian counselor meaning that the types of counseling that I have experience in start with the foundation and belief that God made the world and everything in it. He has made himself known through Jesus and has a lot to say about the deep parts of who we are that long for change. There is hope. I have worked for almost 15 years with individuals who are familiar with suffering. I have my master's degree from the University of Louisville and am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Tennessee. I have worked with adults experiencing a range of identified problems including grief and loss, anxiety, depression, bipolar, burnout, caregiver fatigue, and managing chronic disease processes. In addition to Christian Counseling, I practice Cognitive Behavior Therapy and I love to use tools including learning, journaling, mindfulness, relaxation techniques, and development of coping skills to help individuals take active participation both in and out of sessions. I would consider it an honor to connect with you and hear your story!

As a trauma therapist, I am dedicated to helping individuals, couples and heal from past experiences that have caused emotional pain and distress. With a compassionate and non-judgmental approach, I provide a safe space for clients to explore their feelings and develop coping strategies to manage symptoms of trauma. I have extensive training and experience in evidence-based therapies such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, and mindfulness-based interventions. My goal is to empower clients to reclaim their lives and move forward with confidence and resilience. As a trauma therapist, I understand that trauma can have a profound impact on an individual's mental, emotional, and physical well-being. It can manifest in a variety of ways, including anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and other mental health conditions. My approach to therapy is grounded in empathy and respect for the client's unique experiences and needs. I believe that healing from trauma involves addressing both the symptoms and underlying causes of distress. In therapy, I work collaboratively with clients to identify triggers, develop coping strategies, and process painful memories in a safe and supportive environment. I also recognize the importance of building resilience and promoting self-care, which may include mindfulness practices, stress reduction techniques, and self-compassion. My training and experience have equipped me to work with a diverse range of clients, including those who have experienced complex trauma, childhood abuse, sexual assault, and other traumatic events. I am committed to providing evidence-based treatments that are tailored to each client's specific needs and goals. My ultimate goal is to help clients reclaim their lives, improve their relationships, and find meaning and purpose in their experiences.
