Professional -> I am a clinical social worker with 20 years of mixed elementary and middle school experience which includes work with kids/tweens/teens with learning disabilities and/or emotional (predominately anxiety, anger, self-esteem)-social (mild autism spectrum disorder)-behavioral (covers a wide range!) needs, parent support, formal parenting program, and NJ special education. In addition to that, I have had an outpatient office and provided in-home therapy to children, teens, and their families regarding a wide range of needs. I have worked privately with adults as well. Personal -> I am a married mom of two, and we have 3 dogs (dogs for the win! - although we also have three hamsters and two degus). I love a traditional board or card game (Uno, Connect 4, Scrabble, Othello are my top!) and I bring excitement to any board/card game as if I were at a live sporting event. I always find a way to use humor to my work - - even Dad jokes get me laughing.

I have experience working with individuals, couples and families on issues related to addiction, infidelity and trust, self esteem, depression, anxiety, life changes, divorce, identifying goals, grief and loss as well as caregiver stress and elder adult issues and transitions. I have also worked with clients that are struggling with their identity, motivation and setting goals. I have experience with exposure response therapy to assist those with OCD. I also use trauma informed care to work with those who have experienced traumatic events from abuse to loss. I believe in a person’s ability to develop and grow, in order to become authentic. I utilize different approaches to meet my clients’ needs and help them find success in therapy. I utilize Motivational Interviewing, CBT, DBT, Solution Focused Therapy, Family Dynamics and Person Centered Therapy to create a plan that will best fit the individual client. My approach is warm and interactive, I believe in asking thoughtful questions that cause clients to think and look deeper. I also inquire about my clients’ beliefs and background to get a better picture of who they are and what shaped them. It also allows me to be sensitive and respectful of cultural needs and differences.

My name is Dr. Olushola Bakare, and I’m a board-certified Psychotherapist. I attended St Joseph College. I’m happy to help you today with any of your concerns. I enjoy empowering people and digging out their strengths. I don't ask fish to fly, neither do I ask birds to swim. I respect everyone's strengths and help my client recognize them. I love to highlight my client's strengths. I offer a safe, warm, therapeutic, judgment-free space for Adults (18+) and Older Adults (65+). I am sorry, but I do not accept clients who pay in cash. Also, every late cancellation or no-show accrues a late charge fee. It is my ethical duty to officially terminate our therapeutic relationship when it is reasonably clear that the client is no longer beneficent, services are no longer required, counseling no longer serves the client's needs and/or interests or Dr. Olushola Bakare, LMFT limits do not allow the provision of further counseling services. It is the policy of Dr. Olushola Bakare, LMFT, that our professional relationship will be terminated after a one-month consistent lapse of meeting with a client. Dr. Olushola Bakare, LMFT, will attempt to notify you of this change in status as soon as possible after one month. My ethical duty is to identify, be available, and care for current clients. It could feel awkward for our relationship to end, yet it is not meant to be discourteous in any way.
