We all have dealt with some type of family issue before. At times it can be hard to talk about, but sitting on it usually just makes things worse. My role in this process is to assist in delving into how these events have impacted you and how to move forward in future situations. Need to talk about trauma or issues with depression? Let's tackle this together and discover ways to overcome negative associations from the past. I help adults struggling with symptoms of depression and family issues. I also assist with anxiety and have a trauma focused background. I primarily use the tools of compassion, mindfulness, and problem solving to offer new perspectives in dealing with instances of intergenerational trauma. In many cases, certain aspects unknowingly get repeated between parents and their children. This can be addressed through discussing your own understanding as well as opting to make changes for your future.

Hello! My name is Marcellus. Do you find that you get "stuck" along your life's journey and could use a little support making your way? Do your relationships with others or yourself, past or present, get in the way or create barriers for you? The spaces and places we find ourselves in along life's journey can be distressing, problematic, and/or harmful. Being able to navigate those areas of life in an adaptive way can be beneficial to our well-being. I compare therapy to a car's navigation system, you know the destination and have to do the driving and the therapist offers routes and options for you to take. Working together, you can reach your destination safely and at your own pace.

Greetings, It has always been my desire to serve and bring out the best in people. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and Licensed Practitioner of The Healing Arts, with a Master’s degree in Social Work, and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Growing up with two parents who struggled with addiction, I experienced anxiety and depression at an early age, and did not want to become a product of my environment. This led me to seek a different path. One where I could not only help myself, but a path where I could take every opportunity to help others as well. I embarked on this journey into the human psyche to gain a better understanding of behaviors, mental functioning, and how I can best serve clients in achieving their desired goals. I am here to assist those who are willing to roll up their sleeves and put in the work. You have taken a courageous first step; so let's see if we are a good fit, as I would be honored to embark on this journey in collaboration with you. I strive to build a genuine connection with my clients by fostering an environment of transparency and support. You are the expert in your journey, and I am here to assist.

"When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves." -Victor E. Frankl Hello, Searching and finding a good therapist is paramount to therapy success. Above all else, It requires a good 'fit.' I hope a bit of a back ground story will help you with this process. Thank you for taking the time to view my profile but more importantly, taking the first step. Not easy. My name is Dawn and I'm a retired paramedic of 27 years from the Chicago Fire Department with over 30 years’ experience in Fire/EMS service. I graduated with a M.A. in Counseling Psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. My school concentration was Trauma and Crisis Intervention. After graduating, I worked as a therapist under Dr. Carrie Steiner at First Responder Wellness Center in Lombard, Il. What a great start and opportunity. Fast forward. I now have my own private practice - Frontline Wellness Center! Why? Demand. Moreover, I'm an advocate to those who serve others. I am devoted and motivated to helping those on the frontline (EMS, Fire, Military/Vets, Correction officers, 911 Dispatch, public safety, Nurses, Caseworkers, States attorney's, Emergency volunteers etc.) Essentially, all occupations that challenge or compromise the mental health, safety and physical well-being of Frontline workers due to the unique job role and individual expectations. Otherwise known as the 'helping' professions devoted to fixing or saving others often at the expense and compromise of personal health and safety. My educational and clinical experience is C-PTSD (complex trauma) and PTST (post-traumatic stress disorders). I treat variety of distressing symptoms and issues that arise from a critical incidence/s or accumulative symptoms from abnormal events and experiences. Those on the Frontline are human! First responders often have a traumatic past that is compartmentalized or buried next to their work related experiences resulting in burnout or PTSD that includes experiencing unexpected disturbing /frightening triggers. Hidden or unresolved traumatic experiences/events including combat /moral injury, childhood abuse, sexual assault, and domestic abuse/relational trauma truly DO matter. However, past or present traumatic events can be processed safely with the appropriate treatment providing a path for hope and relief. My personal and professional experiences allows me to treat other overwhelming life experiences and transitions that can equally exasperate a bad shift, job performance and daily life. The effects of aging and/or retirement, divorce, addiction, chronic pain and job-related disabilities are just a few life adjustments that affect normal daily functioning, including our interpersonal relationships. I truly understand and can help you get you to a better place, a better life, a better - you. Hidden. Wounds. Matter.
