Imagine this: you are having a seemingly fine day, then a random trigger comes along and hijacks both your body and thoughts. This leaves you uncertain and stuck... Not only are you judging your own emotional response and not sure what to do next, but your body also feels like it’s been through the ringer. You have every intention to cope and work on yourself and are all too familiar with the phrase “I should work on this”, but you are just way too exhausted and aren’t quite sure where to start. Maybe you don't need to imagine this situation because it is all too familiar. I can relate to these very human experiences and can partner with you to change the way you think and feel. Our emotions serve many vital functions, but often prompt a physical response that can impact the way we view the world. By implementing simple evidenced based strategies to your life at a pace that works for you, you will have the opportunity to confront your emotions with confidence and learn how growth happens when we take a step outside of our comfort zone. With over 15 years of diverse clinical experience with a focus on treating Addiction, Trauma, Anxiety, and Mood Disorders in a hospital setting, I bring you a flexible and creative approach that is curated to your specific needs. While I am open and honored to work with any type of symptom presentation, my niche is working with individuals who have struggled with trauma, addiction, and those that have been impacted by addiction. I hope you will consider scheduling an intake with me to see if we would be a good fit for your wellness journey, please check out my booking link. I look forward to meeting you!

I believe in the counseling therapeutic process which is vital in the task of achieving change in one’s life. Everyone must cope with life experiences and in some instances those situations become too difficult to handle alone. It is a time in everyone’s life where one may need to obtain assistance with life stressors. There is no shame in seeking out help to take action that is needed for change. Counseling is the catalyst for one to become educated on how to deal with those challenging issues. My view is that counseling is a journey of self-exploration by the client meant to increase their level in understanding themselves in a more enlighten manner. I as a counselor will guide and facilitate that journey. Along that journey I will give essential advice to the client to discover the solutions for those issues. It is also my job to assist in identifying as well as developing and mobilizing the client’s own resources to solve those problems. The goal is to understand the problems the client is dealing with, and then to pursue effective treatment options. I will be supportive and sympathetic to help clients overcome self-imposed obstacles.

In 2009, I graduated from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology with a master's degree in Forensic Psychology. I am licensed in Illinois (LCPC) and Indiana (LMHC). I have previously worked in Emergency Department's performing Intake Assessments, private practice leading an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) to adolescents, and most recently providing risk assessments, crisis management, and brief solution focused therapy in the correctional setting. Life can easily become overwhelming, and we all need the proper tools to overcome challenges. A favorite quote is “Mental health...is not a destination, but a process. It’s about how you drive, not where you’re going.” – Noam Shpancer, PhD. Together we can work through difficult times and learn how to manage struggles whether big or small, so they become less overwhelming. My goal is to have you take away a realistic skill set to manage and cope with life challenges and work to be the best version of yourself.

If you've never been in therapy before, I know it can be a scary step. Be proud of your bravery. If you have been in therapy before, I'm glad you chose to return. Either way, my job is to help you find your strengths to learn to manage any issues you are dealing with so you can find your peace again. It is a journey and it won't always be easy but it will be worth it. I have been a therapist and a psychology professor for almost 30 years. I have worked with children, teens, and adults, although I have spent the majority of my career working with teens. I enjoy teens. I have a lot of patience for them. I believe in psychoeducation in therapy. I think that it's not only important to understand what you are doing but why you are doing it. Only by understanding both can you make the changes necessary for long-term happiness. I also believe in working on both the present and the past. I want to help you figure out how to make the present better immediately, while also working to understand anything from your past that may have helped lead to any current issues. Working on both in combination will give the most thorough explanation and avenue for effective treatment. Most importantly, I believe in working together. I may be the "expert" but only you know what is working and what isn't. I will ask you for feedback and I will listen to what you have to say. I am more than willing to do phone appointments if you find them more comfortable than video appointments. Just let me know.

Hi I'm Gaby. If you have been feeling sick and stuck in a negative thought process and wondering if there is anyone who can understand or help you, let's talk. I am here to help you experience change and escape from the pattern of life that has left you feeling different, unwell, and stuck. I am first and foremost a Trauma Informed Recovery Therapist. This means that I believe in you and I believe in your goals and I know we can find a way to get there while acknowledging all that you have been through. I realized I wanted to become a therapist during a serendipitous summer camp experience—40 feet in the air on the high ropes course, I learned that I loved helping people process challenging experiences in creative ways. I love using a lot of different approaches depending on what we are working on. Some of my favorite methods are cognitive behavioral therapy, positive psychology, strength based therapy, and psychodynamic therapy. I have been doing individual therapy with teens and adults of all ages since 2020. Previously, I worked as a clinical consultant, clinical director, and clinical supervisor in specialized mental health rehabilitation settings. I have been supporting people in creating and meeting their goals since 2012. I have used all of my past work experiences to learn how to work with clients to explore dreams, and strengths, and learn how to make these things their reality. I use eclectic strategies to support people as they sort through their lives and figure out ways to move forward in a new light. I believe that therapy is a special space that allows a person to sit, process, and problem-solve in a way that can’t always be done in day-to-day.

Do you feel stuck in a pattern that is negatively impacting your overall wellness? Just as important as the "why" is the "what" aspect of the mind. What we think, what we feel and what we believe are all intertwined with our behavior. Exploring the thoughts and beliefs that underpin certain actions can lead to profound self-awareness and personal growth. In my interactions with clients, I have witnessed the transformative power of uncovering and challenging deep-seated beliefs that no longer serve them. While patterns and commonalities may emerge among individuals, it is crucial to remember that each person's mind is a unique landscape. What works for one may not work for another, and it is my duty as a clinician to adapt the plan of care accordingly. As a therapist and health coach, I incorporate a holistic (mind/body) approach.

We all have dealt with some type of family issue before. At times it can be hard to talk about, but sitting on it usually just makes things worse. My role in this process is to assist in delving into how these events have impacted you and how to move forward in future situations. Need to talk about trauma or issues with depression? Let's tackle this together and discover ways to overcome negative associations from the past. I help adults struggling with symptoms of depression and family issues. I also assist with anxiety and have a trauma focused background. I primarily use the tools of compassion, mindfulness, and problem solving to offer new perspectives in dealing with instances of intergenerational trauma. In many cases, certain aspects unknowingly get repeated between parents and their children. This can be addressed through discussing your own understanding as well as opting to make changes for your future.

I am a social worker with over 20 years of experience working with clients from infants (support to parents) to geriatrics. I believe that our thoughts are powerful to change our behavior. We often have been taught to "just change our behavior" and then we get down on ourselves when we can't. But if we work on changing our thoughts then we have much more success in changing our behavior. This can be very helpful for individuals with anxiety, depression, grief, personality challenges, trauma, couples, etc.

Greetings, It has always been my desire to serve and bring out the best in people. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and Licensed Practitioner of The Healing Arts, with a Master’s degree in Social Work, and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Growing up with two parents who struggled with addiction, I experienced anxiety and depression at an early age, and did not want to become a product of my environment. This led me to seek a different path. One where I could not only help myself, but a path where I could take every opportunity to help others as well. I embarked on this journey into the human psyche to gain a better understanding of behaviors, mental functioning, and how I can best serve clients in achieving their desired goals. I am here to assist those who are willing to roll up their sleeves and put in the work. You have taken a courageous first step; so let's see if we are a good fit, as I would be honored to embark on this journey in collaboration with you.
