Hello, I’m Tim. Do you ever feel that tasks of modern life leave you with limited space and energy to focus on your emotional and mental well-being? When people are maxed out emotionally, they sometimes notice a change in their behaviors and relationships. Life demands can lead to imbalances that might manifest as discord with your significant other or family members, feeling the general sensation of stress or fatigue, or not feeling motivated to engage in mood-regenerating practices. If these experiences resonate with you, I would welcome the opportunity to collaboratively explore the underlying causes, and work toward rebuilding emotional equilibrium. Sometimes people will view therapy and self-care as too much of a time commitment during their already busy schedules; however, I take the stance that it is an essential part of any self-maintenance plan. A practice of working toward better self-understanding and self-compassion is always a return on the investment of time.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I use a collaborative approach to explore your concerns and develop goals. After goals have been collaboratively determined, it is important to experiment with ways those can be implemented in your day-to-day life. Together, we will explore options to discover what is going to work best for you in your journey to feeling better. We will continue to evaluate what is working, and what is not, and think creatively about how you can take the topics covered in our sessions into your daily life.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

My therapeutic practice is related to Choice Theory and Reality Therapy. From a foundation of warmth and compassion, I encourage a dialogue approach to understand the current disruptions in your life. Each of us has a rich history, which is important to acknowledge. Perhaps more relevant to overcoming obstacles and incorporating positive change, is to understand where you are now, and what choices do you have today. Fulfilling essential needs is part of a person’s present life, more so even than focusing on the past. Taking a close look at the here-and-now will highlight current choices and subsequent pathways toward creating an optimal future.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Clients have described me as someone who is compassionate, warm and supportive of gentle confrontation to help break through resistant thoughts or patterns. I see the value of humor and creativity in helping to manage difficult situations and topics. I have been told that my questions and pathways of exploration are very useful in helping clients see their situation in a new light.
