I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and have been providing mental health therapy for 30 years. I offer a supportive, empathic ,safe environment for clients to explore issues they are dealing with. I am experienced in working with diverse populations including adults, adolescents, families, and couples. I find that helping people develop successful communication skills is a common theme across almost all client situations. Building on client strengths helps people address issues and create coping skills. My approach is individualized to the persons unique characteristics.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Usually in the first session I like to set the tone for comfort, empathy, support, and safety. I explain my style of therapy and the importance of working as a team. We discuss client issues and concerns as well as strengths and preferences. Time is spent answering any questions the client may have. We also plan for scheduling next sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I am honest, straight forward, and supportive. I am sensitive to client emotions and challenges. I like to think I have useful insight and perspective to explore client experiences and feelings.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have used CBT extensively to treat many different issues. It is mainly to help clients manage their thoughts in a more successful way.

Couples Counseling

The focus of couples counseling is typically to help couples improve their communication patterns and learn to let go of destructive behaviors and language.

Child Parent Psychotherapy

It is common for parents to lose their way in trying to parent their unique child the best way they know how. I help families with behavior management and developing clear communication with each other.

Strength-Based

I believe that it is very important for clients to know their strengths and how they can be useful in moving forward. Sometimes when people are feeling overwhelmed with issues, they may lose track of what their strengths are and how to build on them.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I like for clients to set achievable goals in order to know how effective therapy is for them. These can always be adjusted or changes or dropped. Goals provide a way to stay focused on treatment.
