30 years of experience

Hi, I am Jeff Robson. I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor based in Ohio. I have my Master's degree from the University of Akron. I have worked in various clinical settings, including community mental health centers, hospitals, and private practice. I provide assessments, treatment planning, and individual counseling services to adults. I have dedicated my professional life to helping people suffering from emotional and behavioral conditions. I accept people as they are and help them move toward becoming the best versions of themselves.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, we will review your history and why you are seeking treatment and determine the work we will do together. I will work to understand what you are thinking, feeling, and experiencing from your perspective. I will work with you to develop an effective plan of action to help move you toward change. I will challenge any thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors contributing to your difficulties. I will instill hope and provide you with a safe environment for you to explore your experiences.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have over 30 years of experience working as a clinical counselor. This has given me a broad understanding of the conditions which can typically develop. It has also allowed me to practice various techniques and therapies to find the most effective approaches.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a form of psychological treatment that is effective for a range of problems, including depression and anxiety disorders. CBT is as effective as, or more effective than, other forms of psychological therapy or psychiatric medications. Psychological problems are based, in part, on faulty ways of thinking and behaving. CBT therapists emphasize what is happening in the person’s current life rather than what led to their difficulties. In my practice, I will work closely to understand you and your situation and work together collaboratively to develop an understanding of the problem and develop an effective treatment strategy.

EMDR

Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is a mental health treatment technique. This method involves moving your eyes a specific way while you process traumatic memories. EMDR's goal is to help you heal from trauma or other distressing life experiences.

Humanistic

Humanistic therapy adopts a holistic approach that focuses on free will, human potential, and self-discovery. It aims to help you develop a strong and healthy sense of self, explore your feelings, find meaning, and focus on your strengths. There are two approaches to humanistic therapy: Empathy. The therapist seeks to understand you. Empathy allows the therapist to relate to your experiences from their perspective. Unconditional positive regard. The therapist shows warmth, is receptive, and is nonjudgmental. They avoid coming across as an authoritative figure.

Interpersonal

Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) is a form of psychotherapy that focuses on relieving symptoms by improving interpersonal functioning. It addresses current problems and relationships rather than childhood or developmental issues.
