Hi! I am so glad you found your way here. I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Virginia. I received my Masters (MSW) from the University of Denver and my Doctorate (DSW) from Capella University. I have been in practice for 4 years, working in multiple environments, including foster care, inpatient psychiatric therapy, schools, and individual and couples outpatient therapy. I am passionate about supporting adolescents and adults in discovering their strengths, partnering with them to meet their goals, and celebrating progress along the way.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, we’ll start with brief introductions to build a connection. I will ask some basic questions regarding what brought you to therapy and your current perspectives on what you are looking to get from therapy. We will also start developing an initial plan to work through in follow-up sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having navigated many complex situations in my life, some ending in success and some in failure, I bring different perspectives to my clients and help them accept change as part of life. I show compassion and empathy to my clients to help them identify the causes of their challenges and offer ways to help them move through their journey.

My treatment methods

Motivational Interviewing

I collaborate with my clients and guide them through the process using active and reflective listening. I use this method to work towards strengthening motivation, commitment to change, and willingness to accept treatment.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use CBT to identify what is currently going on in my client's life, moving forward, not so much focused on the past. I support my clients in showing how negative thoughts lead to negative feelings. To make changes, we must focus on the thought patterns and develop coping skills to manage those feelings.

Narrative

I take my client's lead as they tell their own life stories and guide them to tell the stories from different perspectives. My goal is to assist my clients with rewriting their narratives in more positive, useful ways to help them make sense of their experiences, thoughts, and feelings and how they impact them in the present.
