I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Virginia with 20 years of professional work experience. I received my Master's from Virginia State University. I have experience helping clients with trauma and abuse, oppositional and conduct-disordered behaviors, crisis management, parenting issues, anger management, motivation, self-esteem, and confidence. I am certified in evidence-based programs: Multisystemic Therapy, an intensive family and community-based treatment for juvenile offenders with possible substance use issues and their families, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Incredible Year as a Parent Training Facilitator. I believe in treating everyone with dignity, respect, sensitivity, and compassion. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. I feel taking the first step to sign up for therapy can take courage, and I am proud of you for getting started!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, you identifying your desired outcome and listing the stressors or challenges causing you distress in your daily living.  This will help us create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having worked in the helping profession for more than twenty (20) years, I've developed the skills set for helping you (a) identify the root cause of your challenges and (b) create a tailored plan that leads to measurable progress.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have utilized this treatment for more than twenty (20)years. I facilitated this treatment between six(6) to twenty (20) sessions, with each session lasting between thirty (30) to sixty (60) minutes. The steps I utilized to modify thinking using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) are making a list of desired outcomes, documenting unproductive thoughts, creating replacement of unhealthy thought(s), reading aloud the list daily, and identifying and replacing unhealthy thinking.
