I am a psychotherapist who is eager to help you become your best self inside and out. I have experience working with clients in crisis and also with clients presenting with diverse presentations i.e. mood disorders, autism, ADHD, grief, PTSD, postpartum depression and more. I bring my artistic background to the forefront through the 'tasks' I give to clients to practice the skills outside of session(s). I focus on building a secure and in-depth rapport as that to me, is the cornerstone to any successful therapeutic relationship. I look to you the client for direction on what goals to focus on and the pace we can decide on together to work on each one. I like to measure progress through your report and then as progress is close to being met there is a 'graduation' process that signifies the successful end of services. Outside of being a therapist I have a family and I enjoy the outdoors and painting.
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
The first session is a meet and greet and it's also an opportunity to learn about your history and what makes up your personality. I will look at your family history, marital status and relationship style and communication style and medical background. Then it will be starting to look at treatment goals and collaborating on a treatment plan. It will also be a review of confidentiality.
Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.
The strengths I have as a provider is my art background and how I infuse that in my approach with assisting clients to expand their coping skills. My personal experiences are another strength. Personally I have witnessed first hand significant grief and loss and this has given me a deep empathy and understanding as to what grief can do to overall mental health. There has also been first hand exposure to chronic illnesses in my relatives and see how it can affect mental health and life perspective. My other great strength is my experience with children and adults in crisis and how to address the person and work on harm reduction.
