"I have learned now that while those who speak about one's miseries usually hurt, those who keep silent hurt more" C.S. Lewis Hello! My name is Jaime. I have worked as a clinical counselor for over 14 years in a variety of professional settings, including intensive in-home services, intensive outpatient, partial-hospitalization, community and office-based outpatient therapy services, and foster care. I have also worked as a supervisor, assisting in training other counselors. I have experience in working with children, adolescents, adults, and families with diverse backgrounds and a wide range of concerns. I specialize in trauma and substance use concerns. I also enjoy working with clients on issues such as depression, anxiety, parenting, grief, and mood disorders. My therapeutic approach is to meet clients where they are in life and provide support and counseling to help them no longer feel "stuck" or "stagnant".

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, we will discuss what brought you to therapy, relevant background information, and start to plan personal goals.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I believe my biggest strength is being able to create a safe and relaxed environment where the client knows that they are being listened to in an atmosphere that does not feel too "clinical" or judgmental.

My treatment methods

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a therapeutic approach commonly used with clients who struggle with emotional regulation and self-destructive behaviors. DBT emphasizes teaching individuals skills in four main areas: mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT coping skills teach you how to better deal with difficult situations, such as how to relax your body (so your mind can also relax), also changing how you look at circumstances and events so you have more positivity. This is done by recognizing thinking errors and learning new techniques when thinking errors occur.

Motivational Interviewing

The primary goal of motivational interviewing is to help individuals identify and resolve their inner conflicts, build self-confidence, and increase motivation to change behaviors that are negatively impacting their lives. This is done by increasing the persons motivation to change and empower the person to make appropriate changes.

Christian Counseling

I enjoy helping people by looking at their Spiritual, Mental, and Physical health. As a Christian counselor, by your request we can use Biblical knowledge and understanding of how those three inter-relate to one another and explore how our thoughts, emotions, and spiritual values can influence our overall health.

Trauma Informed Care

Trauma-informed therapy is a compassionate approach that acknowledges the impact of past traumatic experiences on your present life. It creates a safe environment where your feelings and experiences are validated without re-triggering distress. By focusing on understanding how trauma affects thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, this therapy helps you heal, regain a sense of control, and develop coping skills to navigate life's challenges with greater resilience and empowerment.
