Hi there, I'm Farah Ali. I am a licensed clinical social worker, psychotherapist, and dedicated advocate for my clients. My educational foundation is based in psychology and social justice, having earned my master's degree in social work with a dual concentration in community practice and clinical mental health. Driven by a strong commitment to human rights and social justice, I am dedicated to advocating for every individual I work with and the communities I am part of. My Core Principles as a Therapist: Focusing on Strengths & Empowerment: Central to our work is helping you to more deeply connect to—and really use—your inherent strengths. This means looking for growth opportunities where some might find roadblocks and accessing both internal and external resources to help you make the changes you want to see in your life. Working for Comprehensive Wellness: Therapy is a place where we can work toward mental and emotional wellness, learn how to foster positive relationships, and discover a greater sense of balance and ease in your day-to-day life. Promoting Connection & Authenticity: The relationship we have is vital, which is why I work hard to make sure our relationship is a nurturing space for meaningful growth. Creating Safety in Being Seen: I strive to make our sessions a place where every emotion is valued, encouraged, and supported—yes, even the “bad” or “undesirable” emotions. This is the space we cultivate together in our work, and space that is here to help you more deeply see yourself, and be seen in your authenticity.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Our sessions give you space and time to tell your story the way it needs to be told—a place to be understood, heard, and affirmed in your strengths and challenges. In co-creating a space that is both safe and comfortable, you'll be able to explore your thoughts, feelings, and goals, with the aim of working toward the changes that will move you toward a life you love to live. It's vital to me that I provide a non-judgemental space where you show up fully as yourself. I also work hard to foster a process that is collaborative. There isn't a "one size fits all" approach to therapy—this I believe to my core—and our sessions will be tailored to fit your specific needs and concerns.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I use an approach called “strengths-based,” which means I focus on my clients' abilities and capacity to change, rather than perceived weaknesses, disadvantages, or negative points. I also use “behavioral therapy” approaches, which means exploring ways to change behaviors and improve mental wellbeing through a variety of evidence-based approaches, such as Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Dialectical and Behavioral Therapy (DBT). These types of approaches are incredibly powerful when it comes to understanding our thoughts, behaviors, and emotions on a deeper level, and they come with a wide variety of tools and techniques that I’ve found to be hugely impactful in improving the wellbeing of the clients I work with.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I arrived in the U.S. at the age of eight as a refugee. This experience has given me a profound and nuanced understanding of cultural dynamics. People who have immigrated or fled their home countries to pursue a life in the United States—marked by their resilience and aspirations—will find a nuanced and understanding approach in sessions with me. I have found that my intersecting personal and professional experiences play a large role in my ability to effectively and compassionately work with individuals who are learning to navigate life in a new city, country, or culture. My professional experience spans from working with teens in residential treatments to serving broader community mental health needs. I have a special interest in working with teens and young adults, and I make sure our sessions reflect their unique needs and aspirations. I am licensed to work with clients who are in TX, IN, and MN. I know how hard it can be to start the therapy journey, and how anxiety-provoking it can be to reach out to a potential therapist. I would love to see if I’m the right fit for you at this point in your story; reach out today for a free consultation or to schedule an appointment with me. I can’t wait to meet you!
