I have 10 years of experience working with perinatal mood disorders, anxiety, depression, trauma-related diagnoses, grief, and other life experiences. I see you as the true “expert” in your own life and see myself as a guide and mentor along the way. Drawing from an array of educational, career, and life experiences, I use a blend of cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and mind-body approaches to support individuals in a whole-person, strength-based way, combining insight with action. I also like to use humor and authenticity in the therapy process.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session my goal is to understand why you are seeking therapy, your background, as well as what you are hoping to achieve. We will typically review your medical and mental health history, your support system, and what your long term goals are. Think of it as a "get to know you" session before we dive in on session #2.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I offer a safe space to share your innermost thoughts and fears. I consider myself your teammate in your mental health journey. I genuinely care about my client's and their success. I consider each individual as unique with their own individual experiences, goals, and preferences. My goal is for us to work together in a collaborative setting to develop a therapy plan that is specifically tailored to you.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I often use CBT to evaluate maladaptive thoughts and where they stem from. Then we can work to reframe the negative thoughts and try to develop healthier, more positive outlooks.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

ACT can help us sit with uncomfortable emotions. It can help us tie our emotions to our thoughts and behaviors. We can then use these conversations to commit to the actions and change we want to see in the future.

Grief Therapy

I have experience working in hospice, with traumatic injuries, loss of loved ones, still birth and more. Grief comes in many shapes and sizes. There is no handbook for how to grieve. I can help you work through your difficult emotions, reflect on the past, while also developing insights towards the future.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

My goal is to help you become more aware of how we carry stress and emotions in our bodies. We often use mindfulness to encourage "in the moment" thinking. Mindfulness can consist of deep breathing, meditation, complete a body scan, grounding exercises and more.

Motivational Interviewing

My goal in using MI is to help you recognize your goals with the understanding that you possess the strength and power to make the changes in life that you want to see. Together we can review why you might be resistant to change and develop a plan to achieve your long term goals.
