Hello, I am Greg Bisset. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Delaware. I am also a Certified Advance Alcohol and Drug Counselor, Certified Mental Health Screener, and Certified First Responder Counselor. I earned my Bachelors Degree in Psychology in 2016, my Master's of Social Work in 2018, and my Doctor of Social Work in 2024. I have been practicing for almost 8 years in various roles and working with diverse populations and mental health settings. I am also a Marine Corps Veteran, serving 4 years of active duty. I have worked with a variety of different populations, from people who struggle with schizophrenia, people recovering from substance misuse, individuals experiencing homelessness, those who have experienced trauma, and more. I will often focus on using none stigmatizing language, such as an individual struggling with schizophrenia, over saying a person is schizophrenic, as I focus on the individual and their recovery. I believe that the individual is still a person and that mental health or substance abuse does not define them as a character trait. Working with individuals, I focus on working as a partnership towards one's recovery. Together, we can focus on meeting our goals and getting you where you wish to be.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, I often want to get to know you. I want to know your likes and dislikes. Your hobbies, any past treatment, coping skills you may know already. I want to see the family structure, religion, and beliefs. I want to know about any injuries or medical concerns. I also want to know of individual points of contact that you can reach out to if you feel you need a buddy. I want to focus on getting to know you. Vice versa, I open the floor to ask questions about me. I believe that it is important for me to know who are the people I work with and for you to know who you are sharing all this with. I focus on building an atmosphere of trust in each other.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I feel one of my greatest strengths as a provider is my ability to build a connection with my clients. I encourage my clients to use language that they feel best describes a situation, including cursing. I feel that if that is how you need to explain something, then I encourage it. I believe these sessions are yours. I work on building a relationship and connecting with my clients so that they feel supported in their goals and have the streghts to move forward.

My treatment methods

Motivational Interviewing

I often use a motivational interviewing approach when working with clients. It is often that the individual knows what they want or what is best but works to initiate themselves.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

I often utilize mindfulness-based intervention in treatment as it is a great tool to ground and center oneself. Often, these tools can help us and bring us back to the present.

Positive Psychology

I often focus on one's strengths to build one's thoughts and behaviors.

Trauma Informed Care

I work diligently with those who struggle with traumatic events and focus on cultivating an environment that is safe and supportive in one's recovery.
