Hi, I'm Dr. Nate. Do you find yourself feeling sad, empty, or unmotivated? Do you struggle with anxiety, anger, or behavior you just can't stop? Do you have a child who is struggling or a marriage that could be better? Life presents challenges and sometimes we or the ones we love could use some extra help getting through those challenges successfully. For over fifteen years, I have provided therapy and psychological testing in a variety of settings from private practices to doctor's offices, college counseling centers, and community mental health. My approach is to combine the best of psychotherapy with Christian theology to help others live the abundant life that is found in Jesus. I believe the mind, body, and spirit can all have an impact on a person's functioning, and it's my approach to address those areas that are limiting one's functioning.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During the first therapy session, I am collecting information that I believe is relevant to my client's identity and their presenting concerns. This typically involves collecting background information as well as asking questions to gain a better understanding of my client's hopes/expectations/goals for therapy. Often this session is spent with me asking questions and listening for information that will help me better understand how to approach intervention. The following sessions will be geared toward intervention and treatment of the presenting concerns.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

My approach to therapy is very eclectic. It often involves elements of Emotion- Focused therapy, Cognitive Behavioral therapy, mindfulness, Interpersonal psychotherapy, and communication coaching. I wear many hats including being an active listener, encourager, confronter, educator, and coach. I'm open to providing homework when applicable.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My biggest strengths include my positive, non-judgemental attitude; education and clinical experience, and emotional attunement. My specialties include young adult and adult clients struggling with depression, life purpose, spiritual issues, and relationship conflict.
