I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor in the state of Kentucky. I have experience in treating substance use disorders, anxiety, depression, parenting children with disabilities and women's issues. I have worked in a multitude of settings including community mental health, outpatient substance abuse centers and have developed a plethora of experience in meeting clients where they are at for the best possible outcomes.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Sessions with me are very relaxed, and comfortable. I view a counseling session more as a “problem solving” session. A friendly, laid-back discussion where you describe your current situation and your feelings about it, and I utilize my expertise to assist you in trying to resolve that problem allowing you to move closer to having the life you want. I provide encouragement to explore concerns at your own pace and depth, without imposing any agenda. I am here to support a client’s autonomy and self-determination and respect their values and choices.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I empower people to take action and change behaviors, I help clients build motivation for treatment by getting to know individual needs, building a trusting & respectful alliance and coming to a shared agreement on the focus of treatment.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT rests on the assumption that the way people think and interpret life events affects how they behave and feel. The use of CBT in therapy sessions will focus on exploring and developing methods to deal with challenges and behaviors that arise from day to day. Unhealthy ways of thinking and behaving can lead to issues that impact our daily functioning. Through the use of CBT, I will assist you in learning how to transform ways of thinking and behaving that stand in the way of how you would like to live your life! Through the use of CBT we will work together to identify negative perceptions that affect behaviors and thoughts.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is a type of talk therapy (psychotherapy). It’s based on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), but it’s specially adapted for people who experience emotions very intensely. “Dialectical” means combining opposite ideas. DBT focuses on helping people accept the reality of their lives and their behaviors, as well as helping them learn to change their lives, including their unhelpful behaviors. The use of DBT, is to strike a balance between validation (acceptance) of who you are and your challenges and the benefits of change by To help you reach your goals and improve your quality of life by addressing what’s blocking your progress, such as mental health conditions or relationship issues, and to help you learn new skills to replace unhelpful behaviors.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

As your counselor, I convey genuine care & acceptance as a whole person, not just as a problem to be solved. I meet people where they are at and support people in their recovery Journey, which means we are in this together. My clients recognize my passion for helping and are comforted in my authenticity, honesty, compassion and understanding.

Motivational Interviewing

My use of Motivational Interviewing is to help clients identify their feelings about behavior change, resolve inconsistencies with how they feel about making behavior change(s), and then make a plan to make the necessary changes to propel them forward in their life!
