Welcome to my page! My name is Sara Schwartz, MA, LPC, NCC, CAADC, NPT-C (MBA), and I am the owner of 3Cs Counseling Center. I have been working in the field of counseling for 4 years now and have both community mental health and private practice experience. I see clients ages 6+ and specialize in narcissistic personality disorder, trauma and PTSD, addictions, anxiety, and mood dysregulation disorders. I have a very broad experience which also includes working with severe emotional disturbance and co-occurring disorders. I enjoy helping clients providing a supportive space for clients to get to know themselves on a deeper level, develop coping strategies that work, and ultimately achieve sustainable healing.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

We will have an intake session where we will explore what brought you to therapy and develop a treatment plan together, ensuring we put goals in place that you're hoping to achieve as well as ways to get there. You may also be asked to compete brief assessments depending on what brought you in, which will give us both a better idea of where you're at as we're planning how to spend our time together. I will be there to answer any questions or concerns you might have about the therapy process itself, and you will leave with an idea of where you're headed, but also, an understanding that this isn't set in stone.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I offer person-centered care with the understanding that every person and very journey is unique. I show up with a listening ear and an empathetic heart. I have also worked with a diverse population and a multitude of presenting concerns. I specialize in niche areas where it's difficult to find providers, and I believe, oftentimes, you have to actually go through these things to gain a full understanding. My experience extends far beyond any textbook. Other strengths include keen observational skills, identifying deep-seated struggles that aren't always immediately evident, pointing out hidden patterns potentially worth exploring, and always actively listening to where a person is and where they want to go every step of the way.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is based on the idea that thoughts influence emotions and behaviors, and that changing negative thought patterns can make a person feel better and engage in unhealthier behaviors. Some techniques include cognitive restructuring, behavioral activation, exposure therapy and skill building.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

DBT combines elements of CBT with the concepts of mindfulness, acceptance, and dialectics. Some techniques include interpersonal effectiveness, distress tolerance, and embracing the idea that two opposing views can be true at the same time.

Psychodynamic

Psychodynamic work focuses on identifying and working through long-standing unhealthy patterns. The idea is that past experiences influence current behaviors and relationships. Some techniques include inner child work, acknowledging core beliefs, and exploring early childhood attachment styles.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivation interviewing focuses on moving a person from ambivalence towards change to motivation and, ultimately, action. MI uses the stages of change to track where a person is at along the way. This is a great approach for working through addictions.

Attachment-based

Attachment-based therapy is an approach focusing on the importance of early attachment experiences in shaping individuals' emotional and relational development. Attachment styles include secure, anxious, disorganized, and avoidant, which can be further broken down into secure and insecure.
