Hello, I'm Dennis Alvarez. Counseling should encourage and challenge individuals to meet their fullest potential by addressing their mental, emotional, and spiritual needs. I have a professional Psychology Doctorate as well as a post-graduate diploma in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. My previous professional experiences include providing group and individual therapy as well as comprehensive assessments to adults in hospitals, substance use centers, and in private practice. When I work with clients, I like to help them understand how and why certain behaviors or patterns of behaviors occur. I work with individuals with a history of depression, anxiety, trauma, and substance abuse issues. I always seek to create a safe and therapeutic environment while remaining supportive and nonjudgmental. I will use our therapy time to encourage you to live your best, most authentic life.
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
During the initial session, we will discuss your reasons for entering therapy and what you expect from your sessions. I have a variety of clinical interests. I work primarily with adults and adolescents (13 and older) who suffer from depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, and relationship issues. I have extensive experience in working with individuals who have survived trauma.
Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.
I enjoy working with individuals who are sincerely interested in reducing or eliminating their symptoms and improving their quality of life.
