Life in general can be challenging, Let me meet you where you are on your life's journey.. Many of us endure distress that has resulted in mental, emotional, and physical anguish. Did you know changing the way you think can influence how you feel and in turn how you behave and react to life challenges? Let me equip you with the tools necessary to challenge automatic thoughts and relieve tension caused by stress. My passion is to help people facilitate change by teaching a new way to “think” of challenges as we go about life. My goal is to help you relieve tension brought upon by everyday stressors, through the use of effective communication skills, boundary setting, and identifying core issues that lead to destructive behaviors. My educational background includes a Master of Social Work from the University of Southern Mississippi. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with certification as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. I have worked with various populations that include people living and affected by HIV, crisis, elderly and disabled, addictions, immigrants, and caregivers to people living with dementia. My treatment approach utilizes cognitive behavior therapy, trauma-informed care, problem-solving, and mindfulness practices. Let’s get started today and live life on purpose!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, we'll start with brief introductions, and then I will complete an assessment and discuss the specific challenges you're facing. I will obtain your goals for therapy and we will collaborate to identify a plan to help meet your goals and specific needs. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My biggest strength is meeting you where you are with a non-judgment attitude. Engaging others has always been my biggest strength. Most of my clients have told me that I'm easy to talk to and that they don't feel judged.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT- is used to help clients identify cognitive distortions (distorted beliefs, thoughts) that contribute to negative mood. CBT helps to adjust cognitive assumptions e.g. beliefs, expectations, and meaning attached to events). CBT helps enhance perceptual skills, improve decision-making, and improve behaviors (communicating, conflict resolution, and proactively presenting self). CBT is utilized in my practice by helping clients explore their core beliefs ( how they see themselves and the world around them) and identify their common cognitive distortions (thinking errors) that lead to feeling inadequate and replace those cognitive distortions with adaptive coping strategies to counter negative thoughts and feelings and in turn improve their perception of themselves

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

ACT promotes becoming psychologically flexible when navigating life. ACT is composed of 6 processes that contribute to flexibility. 1) Self as context 2) acceptance 3) defusion 4) values 5) committed action 6) contact with the present moment.
