I work with clients who have generally crafted an intentional life, often one marked by good judgment, predictably optimistic outcomes, and plenty of agency. A life that works… right up until it doesn’t. I have a special place in my heart for clients who would rather be doing almost anything else with their time than go to therapy. If you are someone who has an aversion to dredging up slings and arrows, I can relate. My clinical experience specifically includes working with the families of individuals with a severe mental illness diagnosis, bereavement counseling (including situations of violent or traumatic loss), and chronic illness and infertility. I also work with individuals who are anticipating or experiencing stress related to high-conflict divorce, post separation abuse, and relationship issues.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

My treatment approach is collaborative and we will work together on your treatment plan. For some clients, weekly therapy with a short-term treatment plan may be the best approach, and for others, a more distanced cadence may be appropriate. I maintain an active caseload of clients with busy (and constantly changing) schedules. While I am happy to hold appointment times on a regular schedule, many of my clients engage in treatment on an ad hoc basis, around their work and travel schedules.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

My clinical orientation is psychodynamic and eclectic; some clients might want to engage in psychotherapy, which can be a longer-term process, but many clients, especially those experiencing grief, are relieved to learn that short-term and solution-focused counseling are often highly effective.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Within the spectrum of therapeutic modalities, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) falls on one extreme, with specific goals and mechanisms of action, and insight-based or introspective work on the other. I prefer to work with clients in a way that will facilitate introspection, and to allow that insight to inform areas of change.
