My name is Tina Jones-Wallace and I am a LPCC-S in the state of KY. I have been a therapist for more than 15 years and I have a well versed amount of experience in a lot of different areas. I originally worked at a community mental health center where I gained a large portion of this experience. I have been doing telehealth in some form for 3 years now. I am a therapist that wants a client to see progress in themselves and to learn techniques through counseling that makes them more equipped to better deal with barriers that are in their lives. I am very laid back and I am able to do a good job at holding people responsible for their actions in a nurturing way that does not cause more negativity in a person's life. I whole heartedly believe that no one is a diagnosis but is a human that suffers from life lessons. I like to meet my clients where they are and be a team.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

When a person starts therapy with me, we will look at your past, present, and what goals you want to set for your future. I ask for my clients to share with me whatever they are comfortable with sharing and to let me help them make connections. When a person is able to make connections to why they have certain behaviors or thoughts, it is easier to unravel these unwanted behaviors or thoughts. I am very laid back and calm, and I love to use humor as much as possible. This may not be as much in the beginning but as we get to know each other, I always work towards making sure that a client is very comfortable with me. The first session is always gathering a lot of information and the start of a great relationship with wonderful rapport building.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strengths are empathy and making sure that the client is seeing progress in their lives through therapy. This is not about feeling like you are talking to your best friend. This is about identifying the barriers in your life and how do we get over them. Sometimes we have to go around the bush to get to the fruit,, but know that we will get there. Another strength is not giving up on someone and listening to my client.

My treatment methods

Person-centered (Rogerian)

I am a firm believer that my clients are the driver of their cars and I am here for navigation to keep them out of a ditch when I can. I believe that the client is the expert of themselves and the therapist has to listen to what they want to accomplish and just needs help getting there.

Couples Counseling

I have worked with many, many couples and feel that i am very good at this. The number one reason that couples have problems is that they are bad communicators when it comes to talking to each other. I have seen through many couples that with a few small adjustments, things can get better quickly.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

I am a firm believer of being mindful of one's self and environment. This practice would include meditation and grounding techniques when needed.

Eclectic

After many years of practicing, there are all kinds of techniques and things that I have seen work in my practice to stimulate change in a person's life. I like to see progress in my clients and like for them to see the progress in themselves.
