Hi, My name is Farimah Khalilifard and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California. More specifically, I am someone who sparks change in people’s lives and relationships. I have over 20 years experience working with individuals and couples with relationship issues, addiction and mental health challenges helping them grow, be in control of their emotions and making positive changes in their lives.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, I will start with obtaining history of presenting problems to collaborate with my clients to created an individualized treatment plan to work throughout the course of treatment.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I support individual, couples and families in exploring their history and uncovering patterns they may not be aware of so that they can begin to have more control over their emotions and building healthier relationships with themselves and others.

My treatment methods

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I will help my clients learn new skills to improve emotion regulation. I will help my clients improve their mental health by learning techniques to improve interpersonal relationships and learn healthier ways to cope and increase distress tolerance.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I will help my clients recognize their thought patters, distortions in thinking that are creating problems and to reevaluate them in light of reality.

Gottman method

I will utilize Gottman Method Couples therapy to help my clients increase intimacy, respect, and affection and to remove barriers that result in marital conflict.

Motivational Interviewing

I will utilize Motivational interviewing to facilitate change, increasing awareness of consequences and enhancing motivation to make behavioral changes.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

I will utilize Mindfulness-Based therapy to help my clients improve anxiety and depression by utilizing evidence based techniques to reconnect to themselves, increase self-compassion and self-awareness.
