Are you stuck in an endless loop in your life and feel there is no way out? Your self-esteem is shot, dealing with insecurities, and anxious about what to do next in your life. You turn to drinking, overeating, the internet, or binge watch Netflix to escape the internal and external stressors. You have tried so many different things to change your life, but nothing seems to work. You believe you are not enough and are afraid to ask for help. I am here to help you. I believe therapy can change people's lives because therapy changed my life 30 years ago. I started working in the field of therapy 20 years ago as a Social Worker in Substance Use. I continued my work as a LPC working in a treatment center for drugs and alcohol doing therapy on the people who had addictions and the people that love someone with an addiction. Over the last 15 years I have gained experience in all the issues and Diagnosis that come with this population. I help people overcome addictions, co-dependency, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, and trauma. My specialty is addressing sexual, emotional and physical abuse that is past abuse or current abuse and the PTSD caused by abuse. People need a safe environment that is conducive to healing. I will meet you where you are to help move you in a direction to change. My direct and honest approach, with acceptance and care provide a safe place for my clients to heal. I work with the client in a collaborative effort to change their lives.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

You will come away from a session with me feeling heard, supported with acceptance, and understanding. Each session will provide hope that things can be different. There may be assignments to complete before the next session. I will provide my clients with insight into irrational beliefs, how those beliefs impact their lives and how to change them. I will provide tools to use and actions to take that can empower the client to change and live a healthier, holistic life. Through collaborative work, I help my clients uncover what works for them, discover unhealthy thoughts and behaviors that are causing them problems and discard these unhealthy coping mechanisms to free them to be themselves, feel they are enough, and have the courage to change.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I take a integrative approach based on the client's needs. I lean strongly on Humanistic Counseling which is client centered, focusing on unresolved issues, and the person's freedom to make choices. I am solution focused providing insight and direction to accomplish behavior change to change thoughts and feelings that change core beliefs that are causing problems in a person's life. I also use a holistic view focusing on healing mind, body and spirit. Change can be scary, uncomfortable, and painful. I help my clients navigate the "messy middle" by authentic, supportive (sometimes humorous) collaboration.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I feel my wheelhouse is working with people who are depressed, anxious, and have low self-esteem caused by trauma of abuse in their past and present. I have a passion of working with high functioning people who struggle with the issues mentioned above, especially women. I focus strongly on irrational beliefs that the client may have that are impacting their life. I believe these core beliefs drive a person's thoughts, feelings, and behavior. I am also strong on working with client who have grief and work well with the client to process any unresolved grief issues. Being an older, seasoned therapist, I have a lot of wisdom to use in each session to provide encouragement, understanding and care, what works to change and what doesn't.
