There are times in all our lives when things just do not seem to be working for us anymore. During these difficult times, it is helpful to have support and guidance by a trained professional. I see psychotherapy as a process of discovery between two people that can yield great personal growth and transformation. My name is Dr. Alair Altiero and I aim to promote a safe, supportive and trusting psychotherapeutic relationship that facilitates the exploration of areas of difficulty, hurt, and vulnerability. I work to guide my clients to have insights into their own unproductive behaviors from new perspectives, have increased confidence, and gain self-acceptance. I ask probing questions and point out inconsistencies while providing feedback, advice, insights, and observations. I have 15+ years of experience helping people from varied backgrounds with a range of challenges. I specialize in assisting people overcome depression and anxiety, change repeated unproductive behaviors, cope with medical problems, work with and through the emotional journey associated with grief/loss and improve their relationships with others. I know that reaching out for help can be hard, and that many people put it off for a long time. However, I believe that you owe it to yourself (and the people you love) to take this first step toward a happier, peaceful and meaningful life.

My treatment methods

Eclectic

People don't fit into theories: theories (sometimes) fit people. So, I will do not identify a particular "treatment method." It is your journey, not mine. "Treatment methods," or in other words, the way (formal method) in which we process the normal human experiences that are not working for you currently in your life, tend to organically come out of conversations based on what is needed in your personal journey. For me, therapy is not a "one size fits all."
