Hi there, I'm Tonya. Do you feel like you need someone to talk to but feel like no one understands you? Carl Rogers said, “We think we listen, but very rarely do we listen with real understanding, true empathy. I am committed to creating a space where the client feels seen and heard. I have a unique counseling style that allows clients to quickly engage in the therapeutic process. Helping clients find a deeper understanding of themselves is my focus. I guide the client through their journey of self-awareness with cognitive restructuring combined with a person-centered approach. Do you feel overwhelmed and mentally depleted? Our thoughts, emotions, and behavior are guided by our internal compass. Sometimes we need to check our compass and make sure we are going in the right direction. This internal compass is the lens through which we see ourselves, and the world and influences our decisions. A shift in the thought process opens the door for healing and clarity of thought. I'm here to help. Seeking therapy can feel scary but you're making the right choice. You deserve a safe space to heal and grow. In our sessions together, I'll meet you with compassion and evidence-based techniques so you can gain the self-awareness you need to work through your struggles and move forward with your life. Let's work together!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I strive to create a safe and welcoming environment that allows clients to explore obstacles with concerns related to anxiety, depression, and/or self-care. I focus on helping clients develop assertive communication & boundaries with themselves and those around them that can help improve their quality of life. Counseling can foster personal development in whatever way you may be seeking and help build the life you so deeply deserve. If that's what you're looking for, I'm here when you're ready to share.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having my own counseling journey, I know firsthand that our thoughts, emotions, and behavior are guided by our internal compass. I feel my biggest strength is my ability to empathize and understand where a client is on their healing journey.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Processing (CPT)

We do not have to be defined by our trauma. Greater insight about our thoughts will be the catalyst to our journey of self-awareness and reveal to us the root of our unproductive behavior.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Together, we will identify your challenges and goals - where you want your life to be a month, six months, a year from now. Then, we'll identify options and strategies you can use to get there. You'll leave the session with a better understanding of what you're facing with an "actions I can take right now" approach. There will always be room for suggestions concerning our work together, including keeping each other accountable.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

We have a great responsibility as managers of our mind. Understanding that we have a choice as to which thoughts we chose to embrace as truth impacts how we see ourselves and how we interact with others. I help clients learn to take control of their thoughts and which can improve mood and lead to more productive behavior.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

Facing our fears instead of running from our fears empowers us to find our inner strength and move beyond the place that we are stuck. I help clients walk the journey of acceptance and find peace while doing so.
