Toyin completed her Master of Science degree in Community Counseling from Columbus State University (Columbus, GA), Advanced Psychodynamic Clinical Practice Fellowship Program at the University of Chicago School of Social Work (Chicago, IL); and Doctorate in Pastoral Counseling at Hope Bible Institute and Seminary (South Bend, Indiana). She also completed a Master of Arts degree in Religious Studies from the University of Chicago Divinity School and is a retired Brigade Chaplain at the rank of Major with a Family Life Chaplain skill identifier in the Illinois Army National Guard (ILARNG).
